Exhaustion weighed me down as I trudged to my room after completing the entire house chores. I collapse onto the bed, feeling a sense of emptiness and sadness wash over me. I could not stop thinking that my dad was disappointed in me, and Hazel acting strange and mischievous. I just wish mom would return soon to make things better. As I lay there, tears stream down my face. I felt lost and alone, unsure of what to do. Eventually, my exhaustion caught up with me, and I fell asleep.

AVA: (rubbed my eyes in disbelief) Huh?Really?
AVA: You are joking right?
HAZEL: I am not joking, Ava. Come on, let go; she is in the sitting room.
AVA: Do not play games with me girl..
HAZEL: Come on, hurry up!
AVA: Alright! I'm coming..
Hazel pulled me out of my room and towards the sitting room as soon as I stood up from my bed.
AVA: I will kill you if this is one of your nasty pranks-- (surprised) what...?!
MOM: (extending her arms to embrace) Oh my lovely Ava.
AVA: Mom, you are back! (joyed)
MOM: Indeed, sweetheart
AVA: what is that you are holding?

Hazel: Ava, Ava! Wake up, it monday morning, get ready for school.
AVA: (yawn and groggle) Mhmm... wait what? Was that a dream, huh?
HAZEL: (sarcastically) Keep dreaming, sleepyhead! You're going to sleep through the first bell if you don't get up now!
AVA: (protesting) No, no, no! Don't do this to me! I was having the most amazing dream ever!
HAZEL: (exasperated) Ugh, let me guess... Mom got you a new phone when she returned from her trip, right? (rolling her eyes)
AVA: (sheepishly) Uh, no... no, of course not! (trying to cover) I mean... I was just... uh... having a nice dream about... about... (trailing off)
HAZEL: Save it, Ava! just get up and get ready for school.
ME: what's with the sudden interest in my punctuality?
HAZEL: I don't care. Dad ask me to wake you up, so I'm just doing what I was told. Please, don't flatter your self. (let out a sigh, rolled her eyes, and shut the door)
ME: For once, she was actually nice to me... but it was only in my dream.
(throwing the pillow at the door) AHHH! really! it was a dream! (flopping into the bed) why, cruel fate! why... but dreams do come true right? Oh, not all dreams..
Well..
I'm Ava, and this is my story. Growing up, I thought I had the perfect family. My Dad worked tirelessly to provide for us, and my mom showered my sister, Hazel, and me with love and care. But everything changed when mom got her dream job. She started traveling constantly, leaving us behind. We felt abandoned and hurt, but Dad seemed fine with it, because Mom's job brings more income to the family.
As time passed, Hazel and I drifted apart. We used to be inseparable, sharing secrets, playing, and dancing together. But after her 14th birthday, she transformed into a manipulative and crafty teenager. She became mean and rude towards me, and I couldn't understand why. I started to feel like Hazel was jealous of the attention Mom and Dad gave me. They always showered me with compliments about my beauty and valued my opinion. As the first child, I held a special place in their hearts.
After years of struggling to conceive, my birth was seen as a blessing, as if I had somehow broken a curse. This made me feel cherished and loved. Hazel, on the other hand, seemed to boil with bitterness, feeling overlooked and underappreciated. She takes her anger out on me, as if I was to blame for our parents' favoritism. Most especially my Mom, it feels that she loves me more than her, and it makes Hazel really mad.
When I first noticed the change in Hazel's behavior, I tried to reconnect with her by spending more time playing, listening and being there for her. I hope my doing so, she would feel less lonely, and not left out. But no matter how hard I tried, she continued to lash out at me, snapping at me over small things and picking fights without reason. it was like she had become resentful of me.
As time went on I couldn't stand her attitude anymore, because i felt like I was walking on eggshells around her, never knowing when she'd blow up at me next. It was exhausting, and I realized I couldn't keep taking her anger lying down. I needed to set boundaries and prioritize my own emotional well-being. Now, all I feel towards Hazel is hatred and resentment. I'm consumed by anger and frustration, not just with Hazel, but also with Mom and Dad. They seem unconcerned to the fact that Hazel has changed so much, and that her behavior has become increasingly erratic.
Our relationship has completely deteriorated, and I blame her for that. What really crossed the line was manipulating Dad into smashing my phone. That was a cruel and hurtful thing to do, and I'll never forgive her for it. I'm stuck in this toxic dynamic, unsure of how to escape or fix things. But I soon realized it's fate, my sister Hazel and I, we can't relate, our bond's has been broken, our love turned into hate.
