Run Away

The circle of darkness was slowly diminishing. A ray of light came as hope.

When I opened my eyes, my eyelids kept blinking from the absent mind for some time. I looked around; I was still in the hospital. Oh no, I have to go to Enzo.

“Enzo.” I got up quickly. My mind was spinning but I had to go to him.

“Daphne Knox, listen. Wait here.” Someone shook me by my arm. I looked up and saw Bram, standing in front with a worried face.

“Why are you here? Where is my brother?” I was looking at Bram in shock. He was my friend, a teenage boy of fifteen years old. But why was he there at that time? He came closer to me and whispered in my ear. I tried to listen and understand his words.

"Daphne. Use your power. Draw a circle around you so that no one can reach you. Are you listening? Hurry up. Use your power.” Bram was speaking with worry. I unknowingly straightened my arms, raised my hands above my head and made a halo around myself. This was the power of our family. We could build such a fence around ourselves that other people could not reach or sense us.

“Why am I doing this, Bram? What is this? Who wants to reach me? Who is looking for me?” My mind was waking up little by little. I asked worriedly. Bram can sense danger, so I can’t ignore him.

"Alpha has ordered your beheading. Enzo? Do you know who he was? He was the younger brother of. Alpha King and you are being considered as the murderer of Prince Enzo. Alpha's warriors are looking for you. Build this fence around you and run away from here.” Bram was speaking in a very soft whisper. I was shocked. My nerves woke up suddenly.

Enzo’s smiling face appeared before my eyes and the pain started rising again in my heart. What had I done?

"Prince Enzo. Is he fine, Bram?" I began to cry.

"This is not the time to mourn Enzo's death. Why don't you understand? You have to run. If you are innocent, I know you are. But you have to run now. Run and save your life. Bram said, holding me by the shoulders and shaking me hard. I looked at him with confusion. My mental condition was worse, I couldn’t even think properly.

“To prove your innocence, you have to survive and run.” Bram's explanation scared me; I got up with a dizzy head.

"Bram, you told me to escape. In what part of this kingdom can I hide from the Alpha King?" My eyes were weeping, looking at Bram. My brother was not good enough to fight for me. I wanted a family, a home, but now everything was lost. I had not run yet when the fear of exhaustion was overpowering. I was imagining that I would be caught when I left.

"Toward the east. Go to the forests on those high mountains. Go there and remember never to sit in one place. Keep changing places. Just remember, we are friends. I believe in you, I just want you to run away. I cannot bear witness of your innocence. So forgive me and protect yourself. Do not fall into the hands of the King's warriors. You know, on what occasions this fence of yours breaks, don't let that opportunity come. Keep the fence otherwise your smell will lead them to you.” Bram had explained, giving proof of being a true and sincere friend. He was Bram, a weak little omega. His family was famous for loyalty. It is said that the blood of the people of a good family does not flow in the veins. And the truth was said.

I reluctantly hugged him. A tear came out of my eye and got absorbed in his shoulder. I took a black gown from his hand and put it on. I hid my face because of not being recognized. I wiped my tears and ran away at full speed towards the east without looking back.

I knew he was still looking at me. My brother was nowhere. I was not very important in his life. Today, I was gone from his life forever. I knew I would not be able to come back. I might stay in these forests because the Alpha King was cruel and ruthless, he did not forgive or spare anyone. I had to suffer, all alone.
