On the way to the bridal boutique, Vincent called me.
"I hired the best designer in France to make ten custom wedding gowns for you. Pick whichever one you like. If you love them all, keep them all."
Listening to his voice, I suddenly felt an unfamiliar sense of peace. I couldn't help smiling.
"Keep all ten? Am I supposed to change dresses every hour?"
"Then change every hour. My family can afford it."
It sounded ridiculously over the top. Yet he said it with complete sincerity.
I suddenly remembered that in my previous life, while I suffered through a loveless marriage, drowning in guilt and loneliness, Vincent had always stayed nearby, quietly watching over me.
This time, things would end differently.
The boutique wasn't far away. Within minutes, I arrived.
The manager greeted me warmly and immediately brought over a dazzling white gown covered in hand-set diamonds.
"I think this one really suits your elegance. Please, take your time trying it on."
When I stepped out of the fitting room, I saw two people I never expected to run into.
Not far away, Lydia was wrapped around Richard's arm as the two of them happily browsed wedding dresses together.
The moment they noticed me, surprise flashed across both of their faces.
Lydia smiled smugly. "Sharon, don't tell me you followed us here. I know you're still in love with Richard, but we're getting married soon. Even if you're upset, stalking us is a little much."
I couldn't help laughing. "You seriously think that highly of yourselves?"
Richard frowned and grabbed my wrist. "Lydia and I came here to pick out a wedding dress. If you weren't following us, then why are you here? What, don't tell me you're shopping for a wedding dress too."
I pulled my wrist free. "Actually... I am."
Lydia burst into laughter. "Sharon must be heartbroken knowing we're getting married. That's why she's acting like this. Richard, don't blame her."
She looked me up and down. "Although... I really like the dress you're wearing. Take it off and let me have it."
She was doing it on purpose.
I let out a cold laugh. "Lydia, you really do have interesting taste. You've always had a thing for things that belonged to someone else."
Lydia's face immediately turned white. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Sharon!" Richard finally couldn't hold back. "That's enough! Lydia just likes your dress. Did you really have to be so mean? Besides, you're not even getting married. Take it off and give it to her."
I smiled. "If garbage likes something, I definitely don't want it. My standards aren't that low."
With that, I returned to the fitting room, changed out of the dress, and ignored them as I headed upstairs.
The boutique manager looked mortified. "I'm so sorry, Miss Young. I have no idea when they came in. I'll have security escort them out right away."
"It's fine." I shook my head. "Let them stay. They don't matter enough to ruin my day."
In the end, I chose an intricately crafted gown adorned with delicate pearls. It was understated rather than flashy. But once I put it on, it was breathtaking.
As I walked back downstairs, intimate sounds drifted from a nearby fitting room.
"Richard... easy... ah... I'm gonna lose it... What if Sharon sees us?"
Richard let out a low, strained breath. "Let her. You're my fiancée now. Whatever we do together is nobody else's business."
Hearing them carry on without the slightest concern for where they were, my stomach turned with disgust.
