Chapter 7: The Revelation
After her conversation with Elias, Keet couldn't shake off the feeling that she was in over her head. She had always thought of herself as independent and self-sufficient, but Elias's words kept echoing in her mind. You're not like other humans, Keet. You're connected to me, and that comes with risks.
As she walked back to her dorm, Keet decided to visit Sakura, Elias's friend who had successfully become human. Maybe Sakura could provide some insight into what was happening.
When she arrived at Sakura's cozy little apartment, Keet was greeted with a warm smile. "Keet, dear, come in. I've been expecting you."
Keet followed Sakura into the living room, feeling a sense of comfort in the peaceful atmosphere. "Sakura, I need to ask you something," she said, getting straight to the point.
Sakura nodded, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Of course, dear. What's on your mind?"
"Elias told me that I'm connected to him, and that it comes with risks," Keet said, her voice barely above a whisper. "What does that mean?"
Sakura's expression turned serious. "Ah, yes. The connection between you and Elias is a powerful one. As a fox spirit, Elias has abilities that go beyond human understanding. When he connected with you, he shared some of that power with you."
Keet's eyes widened. "What kind of power?"
Sakura leaned forward, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "The power of the fox spirits. It's an ancient magic that can be both a blessing and a curse. With it, you may experience... unusual abilities, heightened senses, and perhaps even visions."
Keet's mind reeled as she tried to process this information. "Visions? What kind of visions?"
Sakura's expression turned somber. "Visions of the past, present, or future. You may see glimpses of things that have happened or will happen. It's a powerful gift, but it can also be overwhelming."
Keet felt a shiver run down her spine. She had experienced strange dreams and visions before, but she had dismissed them as mere fantasies.
Just then, Sakura's expression changed, and she looked at Keet with a curious gaze. "Tell me, Keet, have you noticed anything unusual about your friend Monty?"
Keet's brow furrowed. "Monty? What do you mean?"
Sakura leaned back in her chair, a thoughtful expression on her face. "I've been sensing something about Monty. He's a special individual, born in the Year of the Tiger, if I'm not mistaken."
Keet nodded. "Yes, that's right. But what does that have to do with anything?"
Sakura's eyes sparkled. "In the world of fox spirits, the Year of the Tiger holds significant importance. Those born in that year are said to possess a certain... balance, a harmony between the human and spirit worlds."
Keet's curiosity was piqued. "What does that mean for Monty?"
Sakura's expression turned serious. "It means that Monty may be more connected to the spirit world than he realizes. And with the orb's power coursing through you, Keet, there may be a connection between you and Monty that goes beyond mere friendship."
Keet's mind reeled as she tried to process this information. She thought back to her conversations with Monty, wondering if there was more to him than met the eye.
But Sakura's next words sent a chill down her spine. "Keet, the closer you get to Monty, the more the orb's power will drain your energy. You need to be careful, dear. The connection between you and Elias is already fragile, and adding Monty to the mix could tip the balance."
Keet's eyes widened. "What do you mean? How will it drain my energy?"
Sakura's expression was grave. "The orb's power is tied to your life force, Keet. The more you use it, the more it will drain your energy. And if you get too close to Monty, the orb's power may become unstable, putting you at risk."
Keet felt a wave of fear wash over her. She didn't know what to do, or how to navigate this complex web of connections and powers.
As she left Sakura's apartment, Keet felt a sense of wonder and trepidation. She had so many questions, and she wasn't sure if she was ready for the answers.
When she arrived back at her dorm, she found Elias waiting for her. "Keet, I see you've been talking to Sakura," he said, his voice low and smooth.
Keet raised an eyebrow. "How did you know?"
Elias smiled. "I have my ways.
