Chapter One: Arrows from the sky

It was Monday morning. Don't you love those. Being thrust back into school after a two day break where the only rest you had was a two hour game of chess. How lovely. Dice sat at her table barely able to stay awake. The test was more boring than the teachers lectures. She watched the clock, waiting for it be be break time. She sat for an hour before her eyes began to lightly drift off to sleep. Just as she was about to allow herself to close her eyes for just a second, the lights went off. Dice quickly shook herself awake. She looked around and was confused as all her classmates. The top school in the country and electricity is scarce. Dice scoffed and began to place her head on the table when she heard a scream. Dice looked up and saw her teacher lying on the floor with two arrows sticking out of her head. Rice also began screaming as panic broke out in the classroom. The students got up and began to run but as fast as they got up, they were on the floor with arrows in their heads. Dice looked around as chaos ensued and then felt a sharp pain in the back of her head. She saw the room around her spin, then nothing.

A few hours passed, and Dice woke up on a hard cold floor. The sharp pain in the back of her head made it hard for her to move. She reached for the pat of her head where it hurt and felt a long wooden rod in her head. She passed out shortly after. After about what seemed to be days, Dice woke up a felt herself being lifted off the ground. She asked God to save her, and as she struggled to stay conscience she saw her classmates being carried by men in military outfits as well as a bright light coming from a loud green helicopter. She didn't get to see much more than that because she passed out shortly after once again.

It was dark in her head for a long time.

Then after a long time she woke up. A streak of light danced on her face. She covered her eyes and slightly lifted her head. Dice looked around and saw blood soak hospital bed with formerly white bed sheets. She couldn't hear much. There was a loud rush of wind around. Dice wanted to scream or cry but she was too weak. She laid back feeling defeated and a tear fell from her Eye. Just before Dice fell out of consciousness again, a blonde woman with a sickening smile walked up to her, gave her an injection, and walked away.

All of a sudden Dice felt full of energy. She got of her bed and felt her body move towards one of he classmates beds. it was soaked in blood like all the others. She felt her body move but she was not in control. Her head and eyes involuntarily looked at her dead classmate, and her hands positioned themselves on the railing around his bed. She then felt herself push and felt her legs move forward. She began to push the bed toward the opening of the plane. Then her body turned toward a button on the wall. She didn't know how she knew where that button was. Her hand pressed it and the large door opened. She then pushed her classmate out the plane. She screamed out in agony. Then fell to the floor. Dice looked back and saw some of her other classmates(those who were alive) push the rest of the dead students out of the plane. Dice began to panic before she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked back and was sprayed with something. Then everything went black.

Hours passed and Dice woke up in a white room dressed in an equally white jumpsuit. She starred at the ceiling everything was silent. She felt relief for a while. Then she turned herself to the side. There were other students lying unconscious on the floor. Dice lifted her head off the ground and sat up. Then she leaned onto the wall that she was beside and pulled herself off the ground. She looked at all the bodies on the floor and felt her heart rate raise. Before she could break out into a panic, One of the bodies moved. Dice saw this and ran towards the person then dropped to her knees.

She shook the person then tried to lift their head. Meanwhile, the other people around her began to wake up. Dice gently put the person's head back down and gazed around the room. The person began to wake up Dice looked down and attempted to help him up. She lifted him off the ground and helped him maintain his balance. Then a voice came from four black boxes in the corners of the white room. "Hello children, you have been chosen to lead the future of human evolution. A series of tests will be run to determine your... may I say capabilities. Good luck."

At that moment, The boy that Dice had helped up fell out of her hands and landed hard on the ground. He then began to shake and convulse. Then two beeps were heard and the boy's head fell off. All the other students began to panic and run around the room. Heads dropped to the ground and bodies followed. This went on until there were three students left in the room. Dice looked down at all the door and fell to her knees. She screamed then passed out. In several other rooms the same thing had happened. Over a thousand rooms and only three students survived in each. Students from every part of the word with every type of genetic makeup was in one of those thousand rooms.

Dice Woke up strapped to a bed with a dim red light shinning in her. She was strapped down from her neck to her toes. She winced in pain as she tried to escape her situation but it was no use. Dice looked around and saw the number 3 written on all possible surfaces. She lay I silence for a while until Two large men and a thin sickly woman walked in. the woman's claws were sharp yet clean and her hair was perfectly tied up in a bun. The woman gestured for one 9f the big men to had her a blue liquid in a syringe. She injected Dice with the liquid then looked at a screen. She smiled the exclaimed , "Extraordinary!" The woman then glanced at Dice and said, " You, my child, are a first of your kind. They will like you very much. Yes they will." The woman then left the room and Dice fell into a slight daze. She then heard the buckets that held her down loosen and one of the big men exhorted her to a table with the letters 3, 4, and 7 written on it. Dice clenched her teeth and shook her head she felt like she might pass out soon. She circled the 3 on the paper and just before her head could come in contact with the table a loud piercing sound was played and Dice felt better. One of the big men walked into the room and yanked the paper off the table. Then the once opaque red wall that had stood before her just moments before turned a clear transparent red. She saw her classmate Kayden on the other side of the class and yell out to her. Dice red up to the wall and started hitting it with great force but her classmate could not seem to hear her. Kayden looked around the room and heard a buzzing sound from the top.
