Week 6 Making good dialogue

Before I could even process the information that I heard from Ethan, he started talking again.
"I saw you last week when Lucas spilled coffee on your hoodie," he said referring to that day. "When you took that hoodie off, you looked like a hot model. Every guy there was staring at you."
My cheeks started burning. I am still not used to hearing compliments from other people especially from someone I just met.
"Lucas didn't spill the coffee," I tried to defend Lucas because he didn't really mean to. He even lends his jacket to me so I won't end up freezing.
"Oh, yeah," he sarcastically replied. "Anyway, tonight, you look even hotter."
Before I could respond to what Ethan was saying, I felt an arm on my shoulders. I turned in that direction and saw Jane.
"What are you doing here, Ethan?" she asked his cousin.
Ethan let his hands out defensively. "This is an open party, everyone is invited."
I saw how Jane rolled her eyes and looked at me, "Let's go somewhere."
Ethan let out a sarcastic laugh again. "Why? I was just telling her some information."
Jane didn't say anything but glared at Ethan. Later on, she pulled me and brought me upstairs. There are no people around and just a clean living room here. On the table, I saw a bottle of wine and some glasses and treats.
"I know that you are not a cocktail type of girl," she poured some wine in the glass and gave it to me.
I didn't say anything because I am still thinking about what Ethan said. If Ethan knew about me, then maybe, there is a possibility that Lucas and Jane know me as well. She was really friendly when I got here but Lucas was not. But after that, he apologized and we started to become friends, somehow.
"Don't mind about what Ethan said," Jane said and took a sip of wine "He's an engineer but I just found out that he's teaching in our university. We're cousins but we are not on good terms.
So that explains it. There is somehow a reason why Ethan said it even they are cousins and why Jane reacted that way when she saw Ethan with me. Also, Ethan said that he is the black sheep.
"What are you guys doing here?" asked the voice that seems like Lucas.
"Joanna is not the type of person that likes cocktails and beers," Jane explained to Lucas. He looked at me and the wine glass that I am holding. He poured wine on an empty glass and sat down adjacent to where I am.
"I think I should join you for a while."
I gave a small smile and sipped the wine. He doesn't seem to know about me and my family. Jane, maybe she just really hates Ethan for a reason to make her act that way.
"The party is still going on, maybe they need you there?" I told Lucas. He is the host of this party and he should attend to his guests.
"Nah. I could take a break for a while," he took a sip. "This wine tastes so good."
The three of us keeps on talking about casual things like what is happening in shool, some professors, and what is happening the party. However, Ethan didn't cross our conversation and I don't want to bring him up.
"I think, us three, should go down and mingle with people," Lucas turned to my direction. "Come on, Joanna, I could introduce you to some drinks and you can join others on the dance floor."
I didn't have the courage to deny what Lucas was offering. Besides, I also want to try new things.
He introduced me to his friends and gave some comments about the drinks. I tasted them all and realized that I like some of them.
"Joanna, you're there!" Aira shouted because the music is getting loud. "Let's dance! I'll guide you."
I followed her and danced a little. I think the liquor got to me and I don't have full control of my senses. Later, I just kept on dancing and drinking.
"Oh, you're wasted," I heard a soft voice but I lost the energy to see who it was.
The next morning, before I could open up my eyes, I felt how sore my body was. So this is how alcohol affects your body, just as what was my dad kept on telling me.
I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar room with a manly scent and realized that I am no longer wearing the clothes I wore last night.
