Chapter 47- Whole Truth

I left the two and headed back to the call room. After fixing and organizing my schedules and paperwork, I went home to get what Sophie requested. Mom already informed me about Elisha’s scheduled ultrasound later. She was going to Kyle’s room to explain what had happened. “Samuel! How’s Elisha!? Sophie called me,” Nana asked me as soon as I arrived home. “I told her not to go…” The poor lady looked teary and worried. I held Nana’s hands, “She’s safe, and so are the babies, Nana. Devyn is already in jail, and Felicity and Sam are taking care of it,” I assured her. Nana sighed in relief and held her chest, “Thank God. You can rest now, son. I am already preparing Elisha and Sophia’s stuff. Yelena is already cooking their dinner, and I will make the sandwich before you leave,” she said. “Yes, Nana. I will take a nap, then take them all later.” “I will let you know,” Nana smiled. I walked upstairs to my room and headed straight to the bathroom to freshen up. I still had enough time to rest before returning to the hospital. My next shift will be tomorrow afternoon. I was already resting in my bed when Sam called me. She shared with me what Feliz had told her and everything that she witnessed and happened. Elisha was indeed fortunate. Feliz saved Elisha from Devyn’s vicious attack. “Feliz was in the right place at the right time…” I said. Then Sam told me about the story and all the revelations we had been waiting for. Feliz had finally received confirmation about her connection with Elisha. “It's 100 percent, Sammy,” Sam said, “The DNA result won’t lie. And it's apparent that the two share blood. She’s happy and sad at the same time. Angry as well for what Elisha’s dad did. It was cruel,” She paused, “Oh…” “For years, she thought her baby had died. She cradled a dead baby in her arms. Yet all along, Elisha was given and raised by someone. She lived a dangerous life where she, after all, had a mom waiting for her arrival. I can’t imagine the pain, Sammy…” Sam cried this time. “Oh, Sam. Let’s look at the bright side. Elisha will have the complete family she wants. I am hoping she will reconcile with Kyle too.” I replied, hoping for the best for Kyle. I hated him for what he did, but I could see the love in his eyes this time. “I am happy for her!” I smiled. “Soon, Elisha will know the truth. It's not too late yet. Just like Gideon with Tom.” “Yes, speaking about that. Tom and I decided to give ourselves a little break.” “What?!” I wondered what Sam meant. “Shh…Chill. I mean, Gideon and I will follow him next month to France. Dad knows about it. I thought he had already shared it with you..” “Oh, yes. Dad mentioned you’re visiting France,” I recalled Dad’s incomplete information about Sam’s travel dates. “But I thought Tom was giving up everything and would stay here with you! Oh, Sam…” I scoffed. Sam laughed, “Can you please let me finish my words?” “Fine..” “We will go there for a holiday while he’s fixing his stuff and all the legal cases he’s handling. He needs to go back there soon, then Gideon and I will fly to be with him and return before my birthday…” “I see. That’s a relief, Samantha,” I puffed, slowly nodding, though Sam and Kyle’s birthday would be in a few more weeks, “I actually needed your advice, but let’s do it next time.” “About Demi?” “Sort off.” “Sophie?” “No, actually about Jess...” “Jess Taylor? Is it her death anniversary soon?” I heaved a deep breath, “No, but someone is accusing Demi... and me. Raven, her boyfriend before she passed away, is bugging Demi…” I said, opening up to Sam. Only Kyle knew about the prescription thing with Demi and the real reason Jess bled and miscarried. “Of what?” “He said we killed her.” Sam snorted, “Oh, come on. That’s absurd! Jess died because she miscarried her baby. Does he have any evidence?” “I don’t know, but…” I paused. Sam had no idea about my part or how Demi got the medicine. “Did you?” I shook my head, “Let’s talk about it next time. I need to share this with you in person. I know it sounds ridiculous. It's been seven years, but this nightmare has never left me. I need your smart brain and your advice.” I vaguely answered. “Okay. We will return tomorrow morning, and I will find time to hear you out. I know the whole truth, Sammy. I know you, and I believe you cannot do such a thing,” Sam replied. “Thank you, Sam… See you soon…” I mumbled. My heart wasn’t eased, but as Sam believed, I knew the truth. Sam and I discussed their plans before we ended the call. I felt relieved speaking with her, and it helped me sleep and relax. It was already seven in the evening when I woke up. It didn’t take me a while to prepare to return to the hospital and bring clothes and food for Elisha, Kyle, and Sophie. “Hey, ladies…” I greeted the three as soon as I opened the door. I noticed Sophie curling up like a ball in Elisha’s bed. Elisha’s hospital suite was on the same floor as Kyle's. “I got your stuff and food here, Elisha…Sophie…” I showed them the paper bags and a big backpack. “Hey, Mom!” “Sammy! Thank you, my boy,” Mom and Layla stood up and helped me with the things. Sophie remained on Elisha’s bed and timidly smiled at me. “How is it going, El?” I asked, standing beside her, “You okay, sweety?” I scowled at Sophie. “Awesome! Babies are safe and okay…but that little baby is having her period!” Elisha pointed at Sophie. Sophie just rolled her eyes before tickling Elisha’s foot. “Silly!” “Oi! Sophie!” Elisha giggled. “I’m glad to know. Tell me what Dr. Alexis said,” I sat on the bed next to Sophie, “Scoot over…” Sophie moved slightly and gave me a little space. “Sure!” Elisha smiled before telling me what had happened during the ultrasound. Mom also mentioned Dr. Alexis's words and how Kyle tenaciously joined them. “Sweet! He must be happy to see his babies,” I smiled back before looking at Sophie, who seemed quiet and fiddling with her phone, “Are you okay, Sophie?” I couldn’t help but ask again. Sophie slowly looked at me. Yes, I'm just having my period pain. Thanks for asking,” she mumbled. “I’m sorry. Nana got all your needs in that bag,” I said, pointing at the green backpack. “She got some pain-relieving meds and you lady stuff,” I added, winking at her. “Thanks…” Sophie murmured. Something was still off about Sophie, and I wondered if it was all about what had happened earlier. I had already assured her about it. “Elisha…” It was Mom. “Nana brought a lot of food here. You, Sophie, and Layla should eat now. I need to go back to my clinic before going home,” she said. “Thanks, Maris,” Elisha replied. “Sammy, bring your brother’s stuff and food but remind him not to eat them soon. He got an MRI in an hour,” Mom continued, showing the paper bag full of food for Kyle. “Yes, Mom…” I took the paper bag before excusing myself and leaving the room to go with Kyle. My brother seemed to be on cloud nine as soon as I opened his door. He was smiling, staring at the sonogram photos Alexis had given him earlier. “You seem so happy?” I asked. Kyle’s eyes shifted at me before beaming widely. “Hey, Lil bro, look at this! These are my babies!” He happily showed me the images. I entered and placed the paper bag on the fridge before walking closer to his bed. “I brought your dinner. Mom said you shouldn't eat it yet.” “I know, but check on this, quick!” I took the photos and smiled. “Oh, Lil Skylars…So, did the placenta move?” I asked. Mom said that Kyle already knew Elisha’s current condition. Kyle scowled. “Did you know about it?” I sat on the couch and puffed. “Yes, Elisha had a series of spotting days ago, and Sophie asked me about it. I told her what El might be having, and eventually, Elisha told the truth to Sophie,” I answered. “Will she be okay?” I nodded. “Yes, she should stop stressing and carrying heavy things like Gideon,” Kyle seemed antsy, but he shouldn’t worry. “Yes.” “And no sex.” I snorted, arching my brow. “Don’t rub it on my face.” Kyle glared at me. “I know your baby boy is the one in trouble. Your little Kyle is already cockblocking you,” I chuckled, teasing Kyle. “I know! I thought about it too!” I sneered. “Poor Kyle.” “As if you have some regulars, do you?” “No, but I can manage,” I smirked. “You haven't introduced any girls to us since Demi.” I shook my head and snorted. “Well, my current girl is my career. I’m too busy and focused on finishing these two residencies.” I honestly answered. “How about Sophie? What’s the score?” Kyle then asked. “No score,” I lied. I would love to keep it between Sophie and me, though Sam and Mom already had a hunch. “No way.” “She’s silly, though. I like her,” I wiggled my brows, trying to keep my word. “But I don’t want to use her or be with her at the moment,” I lied once more, though I didn’t think I was using her. We both knew what we were doing. “She’s a great friend, like a keeper! Elisha is lucky to have her as her best friend.” “She is. Sophie is a great friend. I’m happy she’s always with Elisha.” Kyle sighed. “Yes, but there won’t be much in the future. She’s going to work in three states with Feliz and Sam. Sophie said that even though she was excited, she was kind of feeling sad for El.” I said as a matter of fact. “I figured it out. It seemed that El would be staying here in New York for a while. She’s not allowed to go for long travels,” Kyle said, somehow relieving me because it meant that Sophie would still be around. “Yes, and I heard Sam and Gideon might go to Paris,” I said, suddenly remembering Sam. “What?!” Kyle scowled. “Hey, chill! Let me finish.” I snorted. “Oh, sorry…” “Yes, they thought about going there next month to tour for a while, then take all of Tom’s stuff and be back before your birthday,” I said before sharing with him what Sam and I discussed earlier. “Oh, sweet. I haven't talked to Sam about it, though,” Kyle puffed, wincing in pain. “She just mentioned it to Dad and shared it with us.” “Do you have any news about Elisha’s stepmom?” Kyle asked. “She’s in jail, but perhaps call Felicity. She’s the one who witnessed everything,” I answered. I didn’t know the complete story yet, and only Sophie could give it to me. “Sam’s info was too vague. I will try to call her later.” Kyle said. “Sure you will, bro,” I stood up, “I’m going to check on Elisha and go home soon. I’m tired.” I said, though I wanted to check on Sophie too. “Sure, thanks for the food. I’m hungry,” Kyle grumbled. I looked at my wristwatch. “They’re coming here to pick you up soon. It’ll be quick,” I said, patting Kyle’s leg. “See you tomorrow, Skylar.” “See you, goodnight.” “Good night.” I bade, leaving him before returning to Elisha’s room. Layla and Mom weren’t there anymore. Elisha was on her phone while eating the egg sandwich she requested. However, Sophie was on the couch this time. Her eyes were closed, her brows were knitting, and she seemed to be in pain. “Hey…you okay?” I asked Sophie for the nth time, crouching to check on her. “She will be okay soon…” It was Elisha. “She’s always like that whenever she gets her monthly visit..” I nodded. “Did you drink your meds?” I asked Sophie, and she just simply nodded. I felt terrible for her and had never seen her passive like this. She was always on the go and full of energy. “Yes, she did, but just a while ago,” Elisha answered me again. I rubbed Sophie’s hair. “Okay. Just don’t forget to eat your dinner, Sweety,” I uttered before looking at Elisha, “I need to go now. I will see you tomorrow,” I stood straight, went to Elisha, and hugged her. “Yes, Uncle My-My!” Elisha held my arm. “See you and goodnight.” I kissed Elisha’s forehead before going to the couch and giving Sophie’s hair a light peck. “Feel better, sweety….” I whispered into her ear.
