Thirty-One

1060 Words

Talia’s POV The journey home the next morning was rather quiet. I hadn’t been able to sleep the whole night and when Valerie and Jasmine offered to drive me to the mansion, I hurriedly refused. I didn’t want Lorenzo to find out about them and more so, I didn’t want them to find out that there was something wrong with me. Fortunately, the cab driver wasn’t in a chatty mood and it was perfect for me. Ten minutes later, the cab pulled up at the mansion and I handed the driver a fifty-dollar bill and told him to keep the change. It was only past eight and Marissa wouldn’t be awake and I had no idea if Lorenzo had returned from his trip. “Do you know if Don Lorenzo is back?” I asked a maid as I scaled up the stairs. “No, he isn’t.” She replied, smiling at me before she walked away.
