Darry slowly came out of the daydream back into the nightmare that he was doomed to face. Lanie lay there in the hospital bed, lifeless with that breathing tube in her throat. Darry could do nothing but think the worst. 'Why did I do this to her?' Darry thought to himself. "She has done nothing but love me and care for me, and I've betrayed her trust, and now she lay in this hospital bed, and there's nothing that I can do for her." he cried. Darry grabbed ahold of Lanie's hand and brought it up to his lips. "I am so sorry, Lanie." he whimpered.
