    Anita walked over to her daughter's bed and sat down in the empty chair. She kissed Lanie on the forehead and spoke to her. "Lanie, baby, if you can hear me, squeeze my hand," she said. Everyone looks down at her hands, for a few moments, nothing happened. Then, all of sudden her hand barely squeezed Anita's hand. She continued to talk to her. "Do you know who I am? If you do, squeeze my hand," she said once more. Lanie squeezed her hand again. "Do you see this honey? She said to her husband. She knows who I am." she cried. Lanie's father wheeled over to her bedside as well, and he put his hand on her arm. "Lanie, it's daddy. I'm here too, and I'm not going anywhere. If you can hear me, I love you." he sniffled.
