### Chapter 5: Desperate Measures
Adrian watched from a distance, his eyes never leaving Nandini as she moved through the bustling market. His wolf was growing increasingly restless, the bond between them becoming more insistent. Every moment he spent watching her was torture, knowing she was so close yet still out of reach.
"We need to claim her," his wolf growled, desperation evident in its voice.
"I know," Adrian responded, his frustration matching his wolf's. "But we can't just rush in. We need the right moment."
The opportunity came sooner than he expected. Today was a special day in Aravyn, marked by a grand procession that wound its way through the market streets. The crowd was thick, and Adrian saw his chance. As Nandini, Riya, and Aishwarya moved with the throng, he knew the chaos would provide the perfect cover.
Adrian followed them closely, his heart pounding with anticipation. The procession reached its peak, and the crowd surged, separating Nandini from her friends. He saw her looking around in panic, trying to find Riya and Aishwarya amidst the sea of faces.
This is it, Adrian thought, his wolf urging him forward. Now or never.
He moved swiftly through the crowd, closing the distance between them. Nandini was alone and vulnerable, her panic palpable. Adrian approached her from behind, his movements quick and precise. He pulled out a handkerchief soaked in chloroform and pressed it over her mouth and nose.
Nandini struggled for a moment, her eyes wide with fear and confusion. But the chloroform took effect quickly, and she slumped into his arms, unconscious. Adrian lifted her effortlessly, cradling her protectively as he carried her to his car—a sleek, black Aston Martin.
He placed her gently in the back seat, ensuring she was comfortable before closing the door and slipping into the driver's seat. His heart was pounding, but a sense of triumph washed over him. Finally, his mate was with him.
---
Nandini’s head lolled to the side as the car sped through the streets, her breathing steady and deep. Adrian glanced at her in the rearview mirror, his heart swelling with a mix of relief and possessiveness. She was finally his, and he would protect her with everything he had.
As they left the city and drove into the countryside, Adrian felt the tension in his shoulders begin to ease. His estate was secluded, surrounded by thick forests and rolling hills. It was the perfect place to keep her safe and secure.
They arrived at his sprawling mansion, the high gates swinging open to admit them. Adrian parked the car and gently lifted Nandini out, carrying her into the house. His staff, well-trained and discreet, made no comment as he passed them, though he could see the curiosity in their eyes.
He carried her to a beautifully furnished room and laid her on the large, four-poster bed. She looked so peaceful in her sleep, a stark contrast to the turmoil that had brought her here. Adrian brushed a strand of hair from her face, his touch gentle.
"You're safe now," he murmured, though she couldn't hear him. "I won't let anything happen to you."
His wolf growled in satisfaction, finally content with their mate's presence. But Adrian knew this was just the beginning. He had to explain everything to her, to help her understand their bond and the world she had unknowingly stepped into.
As he watched her sleep, Adrian vowed to protect her, no matter the cost. She was his mate, and he would do whatever it took to keep her safe.

Meanwhile, back at the market, Riya and Aishwarya were frantically searching for Nandini. The procession had thrown everything into chaos, and they had lost sight of her in the crowd. They called her name, checked their phones, and asked around, but there was no sign of her.
"We need to get back to the hotel," Riya said, her voice tinged with worry. "Maybe she went back there when we got separated."
Aishwarya nodded, though she looked equally concerned. "Let's go. She might be waiting for us there."
They hurried back to the hotel, their minds racing with worry and fear. But when they arrived, there was no sign of Nandini. Her phone went straight to voicemail, and no one had seen her since the procession.
"We have to call the police," Aishwarya said, her voice shaking. "Something's wrong. She wouldn't just disappear like this."
Riya nodded, pulling out her phone to make the call. As they spoke to the authorities, their anxiety only grew. They knew something terrible had happened, but they had no idea where Nandini could be or who could have taken her.
---
At Adrian's estate, Nandini began to stir. The effects of the chloroform were wearing off, and she slowly became aware of her surroundings. Her head felt heavy, and there was a dull ache behind her eyes. She blinked, trying to clear the fog from her mind, and looked around.
The room was lavishly decorated, with elegant furniture and rich fabrics. She felt a momentary sense of confusion, wondering where she was and how she had gotten there. Then the memory of the market, the crowd, and the handkerchief pressed over her mouth came flooding back.
She sat up quickly, her heart pounding with fear. Where was she? Who had taken her? She swung her legs over the side of the bed, feeling a surge of panic. She had to get out of here, to find a way back to her friends and to safety.
Just as she was about to stand, the door opened, and Adrian walked in. He looked relieved to see her awake, but there was a possessive intensity in his gaze that made her shiver.
"Who are you?" she demanded, her voice trembling. "Where am I? Why did you take me?"
Adrian held up his hands in a placating gesture. "Calm down, Nandini. You're safe here. I promise I won't hurt you."
"Safe?" she echoed, her voice rising with anger and fear. "You kidnapped me! How can I be safe?"
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I know this is hard to understand, but you have to trust me. There's a reason you're here, and it's important."
Nandini shook her head, backing away from him. "I don't understand any of this. I want to go home."
"You are home," Adrian said softly, stepping closer. "This is your home now. With me."
She looked at him, her eyes wide with fear and confusion. "What are you talking about? I don't belong here. I want to go back to my friends."
Adrian's expression softened, but there was a steely resolve in his eyes. "In time, you'll understand. For now, please, just rest. You're safe here, Nandini. I swear it."
She looked at him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes but feeling the weight of his possessiveness. She didn't know what to believe, but one thing was clear: her life had just taken a terrifying and unexpected turn, and there was no going back.
