### Chapter 4: Whispers of the Unknown
After a tiresome day exploring Aravyn Hill and admiring the ancient rock paintings, Nandini returned to the hotel with her friends. They chatted excitedly about their adventure, their laughter filling the air as they recounted the day's events. Nandini tried to match their enthusiasm, but the memory of the man by the pool and the lingering feeling of being watched kept tugging at the edges of her mind.
By the time they finished dinner and returned to their rooms, she was exhausted. She took a quick shower, hoping the warm water would wash away the unease. Climbing into bed, she felt her eyelids grow heavy almost immediately. The events of the day had taken their toll, and soon, she drifted off into a deep slumber.
In her dream, she found herself walking through a dense forest. The air was thick with the scent of pine and damp earth, and the sounds of birds and rustling leaves filled her ears. There was a strange sense of belonging here, as if she had walked these paths many times before.
She wandered deeper into the forest, her steps light and purposeful. The trees grew taller and closer together, casting deep shadows that seemed to dance and flicker in the dappled sunlight. The further she walked, the more she felt drawn to something ahead.
Eventually, she came upon a series of caves, their dark openings like gaping mouths in the rocky hillside. An eerie feeling washed over her, but she couldn’t shake the compulsion to enter. As she stepped inside one of the caves, the air grew cooler and the light dimmer.
Suddenly, she heard faint chanting echoing off the stone walls. It was a haunting sound, the words unfamiliar and ancient, but there was a strange comfort in them as if they were calling her home. Her heart began to race as she moved deeper into the cave, the volume of the chanting increasing with every step.
“Nandini,” a voice whispered, barely audible but unmistakable.
She paused, her breath catching in her throat. The chanting grew louder, more insistent, the ancient language twisting and turning through the air like tendrils of smoke. The sensation of being watched was overpowering, and her skin prickled with fear.
Panic surged within her, and she turned to run, desperate to escape the unnerving voices. As she fled, her footfalls echoed in the narrow passage, her heart pounding in her ears. She stumbled through the darkness, the feeling of being pursued growing stronger.
In her frantic flight, she collided with something hard and unyielding. She stumbled back, looking up to see the same man from the hotel standing before her. His presence was overpowering, his musky scent filling her senses.
“Who are you?” she whispered, her voice trembling.
He didn’t respond, just took a step closer, his eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that made her shiver. She began to crawl back, her fear turning to terror as he advanced.
“Stay away from me!” she cried, but he continued to approach.
Just as he reached out to grab her, she jolted awake, her body drenched in sweat. Her heart was racing, her breath coming in quick, shallow gasps. She looked around her darkened room, trying to calm herself.
Then she saw it—a dark shadow in the corner of her room. Panic surged anew as she fumbled for the light switch, her hands shaking. The room was bathed in light, and the shadow was gone.
“Strange…” she whispered to herself, her voice shaking. It was the first time she had ever experienced a nightmare like this, and it left her feeling unsettled and vulnerable.

Meanwhile, across the hotel, Adrian tossed and turned in his sleep, his dreams filled with visions of Nandini. His wolf was restless, the connection with their mate growing stronger and more urgent. He found himself in a dark forest, the scent of pine and damp earth filling his senses. He could hear faint chanting, the ancient words tugging at his soul.
“Find her,” his wolf growled, its voice echoing in his mind.
“I’m trying,” Adrian responded, frustration lacing his words. “But we have to be careful.”
As he moved through the forest, he saw Nandini running towards him, fear etched on her face. He reached out to her, but she vanished before his eyes. He woke with a start, his heart pounding and his body drenched in sweat.
“Mate,” his wolf insisted, the word filled with longing.
“I know,” Adrian said aloud, running a hand through his hair. “But she’s not ready. We can’t rush this.”
His wolf grumbled but fell silent, understanding the truth in Adrian’s words. They couldn’t afford to scare her away. He needed to find a way to approach her without overwhelming her.
Adrian got up and paced the room, the memory of Nandini’s scent and presence haunting him. He felt the bond between them growing stronger, pulling him towards her. He knew he had to see her again, but he had to find the right moment.

The next morning, Nandini woke up feeling groggy and unsettled. The nightmare lingered in her mind, the chanting voices and the mysterious man’s intense gaze haunting her thoughts. She tried to shake it off as she got ready for the day, determined not to let the dream ruin her vacation.
Riya and Aishwarya were already up, excitedly planning their next adventure. “How about we visit the local market today?” Riya suggested. “I’ve heard they have amazing crafts and souvenirs.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Nandini replied, forcing a smile. She needed a distraction from the unsettling dream and the strange feeling that someone was watching her.
They headed out, the bustling market a welcome change of pace. The vibrant colors, lively music, and the delicious smell of street food filled the air, lifting Nandini’s spirits. She immersed herself in the experience, enjoying the sights and sounds of the market.
But every now and then, she would catch a glimpse of a tall, well-built man in the crowd, and her heart would race. She couldn’t shake the feeling that he was following her, watching her every move.
“Are you okay, Nandini?” Aishwarya asked, noticing her friend’s distraction.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Nandini replied, trying to sound convincing. “Just a bit tired, I guess.”
“Maybe you need another dip in the pool,” Riya suggested with a grin.
“Maybe,” Nandini agreed, though she wasn’t sure if the pool would offer the same comfort it had before.
As the day went on, the feeling of being watched grew stronger. Nandini tried to ignore it, focusing on enjoying the market with her friends. But the memory of the dream and the mysterious man’s presence lingered in her mind, a constant reminder that something strange was happening.
She couldn’t help but wonder what it all meant, and whether she would ever find the answers she was looking for. For now, all she could do was try to enjoy her vacation and hope that the unsettling feelings would eventually fade away.
