Nandini sat on the edge of the lavish bed, her mind swirling with confusion and fear. She stared at Adrian, the man who had kidnapped her, trying to make sense of the situation. Her thoughts raced as she struggled to process everything that had happened. Who was this man? Why had he taken her? And why did he claim that this was her home now?
What does he want from me? she wondered, her heart pounding. How did I get into this mess? I just wanted a simple vacation with my friends. How did it all go so wrong?
Adrian stood a few feet away, his intense gaze fixed on her. He could sense her turmoil, but he couldn't decipher what she was thinking. His wolf was growing impatient, desperate to claim their mate, but Adrian knew he had to handle this delicately. He wanted to earn her trust, to make her see that she belonged with him. Yet, her silence and the fear in her eyes were driving him to the edge.
After what felt like an eternity of uncomfortable silence, Nandini finally spoke, her voice trembling. "Can I have some water?"
Adrian snapped out of his thoughts and immediately fetched a glass of water from the nightstand. He handed it to her, watching as she took a few sips. Her eyes darted around the room, clearly searching for an escape.
"When can I leave?" she asked, her voice more steady but filled with a mix of hope and dread.
Adrian's expression hardened, and he met her gaze with unflinching determination. "Never."
The single word hit Nandini like a physical blow. Her eyes widened in disbelief, and the glass slipped from her hand, shattering on the floor. Panic surged through her, and she leapt to her feet, her fear giving way to anger and desperation.
"What do you mean, never?" she shouted, her voice rising. "You can't just keep me here! This is kidnapping! Let me go right now! Heeeeelppppppp" she screamed at top of her voice.
Adrian's jaw tightened as he watched her, his frustration growing. He had never been spoken to like this, never faced such defiance. His wolf snarled within him, demanding he take control, but he struggled to maintain his composure.
"You don't understand," he said, trying to keep his voice calm. "This is for your own safety. You're mine .. .my mate, and—"
"I don't care!" Nandini cut him off, her eyes blazing with fury. "I don't know you, I am not anyone’s property. . . and I certainly don't want to be your mate! Let me go you bastard!"
She bolted for the door, her heart pounding as she fumbled with the handle. But before she could escape, Adrian was there, his grip like iron as he pulled her back. She struggled against him, shouting and kicking, but he held her firmly.
"Stop it!" Adrian snapped, his patience finally breaking. "You need to calm down and listen!"
"Let me go!" Nandini screamed, her panic giving way to sheer terror. "You can't keep me here! You can't keep me here..” she screeched at top of her voice throwing around arms and legs to release herself from his grip and in that chaotic moment she didn’t understand what was happening but she ended up slapping him right across his cheek.
Adrian lost all the control he had and hell broke loose. In a flash of frustration and desperation, Adrian's dominant side took over. He spun her around, bent her over his knee, and spanked her 15 times with full force. The shock of the action left Nandini who was shouting now started to cry, she had never been hit ever in her life! Her mind struggling to process what had just happened.
"Stoooop!" she cried, tears of anger and humiliation streaming down her face. "Please stop!! let me go!"
Adrian loosened his grip on her picked her up and pulled her to him, forcing her to straddle his lap as he sat on the edge of the bed. She fought and squirmed against him, but his hold was firm, his strength undeniable.
"ENOUGH," His voice boomed, making Nandini jump. Now she was scared of him, she understood the power he had within him. Now she was scared for her life. "You need to calm down and listen to me” he said with this deep voice.
Nandini's struggles slowly subsided as she realized her attempts to escape were futile. Her anger and panic gave way to a wave of helplessness, and she broke down, tears rolling down her cheeks. Adrian held her close, his arms wrapped around her in a surprisingly gentle embrace.
"It's okay, little one, shhhhh. . . everything will be all right" he murmured, his voice a soothing rumble. "I'm here. Just breathe."
Strangely, his words and the warmth of his embrace began to have a calming effect on her. Her breaths became less ragged, and the tension in her body started to ease.
"I know this is overwhelming," Adrian said quietly, his lips close to her ear. "And I understand that what I've done is wrong. But I have my reasons."
Nandini sniffled, her tears slowing as she looked up at him, confusion and vulnerability in her eyes. "What reasons? Why are you doing this?" Her voice was still shaking.
Adrian's eyes softened, but he didn't reveal the full truth. "I can't explain everything right now. I don't want to panic you more. But believe me when I say it's for your safety."
Nandini looked into his eyes, searching for any sign of deceit. Despite everything, there was something in his gaze that made her want to believe him, even if just a little.
"I don't understand," she whispered, her voice breaking. "Why me?"
Adrian tightened his embrace, his heart aching at her distress. "You're special, Nandini. More special than you realize. And I'll do whatever it takes to protect you." He rubbed his fingers on her cheeks.
As the weight of his words settled over her, Nandini felt a strange mix of fear and curiosity. Nandini was shocked to the extent that she didn’t realise that she was nestled in Adrian's arms.
In his mind Adrian’s wolf was scolding him for hurting their mate. But in the end both of them knew drastic measures had to be taken before it could’ve been too late.
