Chapter 14 Kayla pov Consciousness came back slowly, in pieces, like pulling myself up through something thick and heavy that didn't want to let go. The first thing I registered was pain, a dull, insistent ache pulsing somewhere near my ankle, sharp enough to cut through the fog but not sharp enough to fully wake me. The second thing was light, soft and filtered, coming from somewhere above me. I didn't know where I was.
