The first accident

705 Words
Dark grey clouds starts to form as I am placed in a small white ambulance. While we drive out I finally let the darkness enclose me.  When light falls on me I feel alone. Yes, I may be surrounded by doctors, nurses, machines, people etc, but I don't see... "Where is Dylan?"  The words pierce, as I remember the lifeless body that was laying next to me.  Is this a dream? Was that a dream? This can't be real. It only happens in movies. "Darling.." Dad's word's are sweet, yet I know this can not be.  Dad's been in heaven, a few years now. This can't be real. "Be careful now, Lea is a special baby."  Suddenly I see my little sister, she is so small. I'm so small...  The pink bandage that's wrapped around her leg so tightly makes it obvious that's something's hurting her.  "Can I take it off daddy, it's hurting her?"  "No." His words are stern, but sympathetic.  "Lea will have more hurt if we do." I shrug at his words. I don't want her to have any hurt, but if she needs this, then I will love her through this."  Whilst pecking my sister's forehead, I feel us fast forward to 15 years later. Lea is now in a wheel chair. The pink bandage turned out to be an attempt to straighten her leg, but that failed causing her to be paralyzed.  She, however is one of the cleverest girls I know. She dreams of being a doctor and works damn hard to achieve this.  As I get out of school, about to head to the car, I see my sister on her way to me. "Sis, wait let me help you." I walk towards her and grab the books on her lap, and place them in my bag. I start pushing her to my car. "How was your day?"  Lea's words are sweet. I know how she feels. Embarrassed. She doesn't have to be, but yet she is. "Amazing, after seeing you." I wink at her making her smile We get to the car, and after loading her books in the trunk I help her to get in.  As I start the car we are both happy, when Daughtry's Home is coming on.  We start singing at the top of our lungs enjoying our song when all of a sudden I hear a CRASH!!! And then blackness fully captures me leaving me in the dark.  After a short while in the darkness, I remember waking up in another hospital. Mom and Dad are here, and this time I don't see Lea.  "Is, she ok? For the first time, I realize how depressed they are. This is all my fault. I... I killed my sister.  "My angel, now don't go making assumptions." Mom's words enter my thoughts... breaking every idea that pops up. "Lea is perfectly fine, she is walking around with grandma and grandpa in paradise."   Tears started filling my eyes. Lea did not make it. She didn't make it. "Now don't go thinking this is your fault." You couldn't have seen that truck coming around the corner at that speed." Dad tries to comfort me, but I feel as if I just lost my best friend.  She had so much she wanted to conquer, but they always say it's the angels who go first.  I'm brought back to my current situation when I hear mom's words.  "Amelia, honey, where is my smart lawyer?" I open my eyes to the old grey hospital filled with my much older mother, a doctor and some nurses."  "Here I am, hello Mama." She smiles at me, hugging me and sitting next to me, holding my hand. "I came as soon as I heard."  The doctor looks at me, sympathetically. This is bad news. "I'm sorry to be the one to inform you, but the male who was next to you in the car has passed on."  "And, and my baby?"  "The fetus has survived the accident, but we suspect paralysis at birth."  All of a sudden I feel a pang at my heart, only two years ago I met Dylan, I thought here is my future. Yet, once again I was wrong.
