Grace started blushing immediately I referred to the guy she met at the party. I have not seen her blush so much since high school. Yes, she has been in relationships but she hasn't been in one for a while. "His name is Ethan. He is friends with the groom, he came all the way from France for the wedding. Since he came from France, we had lots of things to talk about." She said, still blushing. She left for France in high school because her father got transferred at work. She also went to a culinary school in France. "It's nothing really. He got my number at the wedding and we started talking a lot" she continued, still smiling. With the way she was talking about him, it looked like she already had feelings for him. " I think I like him, Mabel " she said looking at me sheepishly. "Is the feeling mutual?" I asked her. "He said he likes me also. But I don't know for sure. You know the way men can be" she said, looking stuck. "So we will have a wedding soon?" I said, try to lightening the mood. She laughed and we continued gisting. " I am sleeping over " she said, standing up to go to the bathroom. As soon as she left for the bathroom, my housekeeper knocked on my door and told me dinner was ready. I took my bath as soon as Grace was done and we both went down for dinner.

For the first time in days, my father was available for dinner. "Good evening dad" "Good evening sir" Grace and I said at the same time, immediately we got to the dining table. "Good evening my darling" he replied, looking up from his phone. He saw Grace beside me and his smile got wider. Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention, Grace is like a second daughter to my parents. They love her so much. "Come give me a hug" he beckoned to her. She skipped(yeah, skipped. She actually skipped) to him and hugged him.Turned around and went to hug my mum also.
They started playing catch up immediately they sat down. " Mabel, how is work?" My father asked me. "Work is good.. I am beginning to get used to it" I replied him honestly. " Kobe said he is thinking of retiring" he said, referring to my boss. "Yes, I heard. Do you know who is going to replace him? " I asked him, taking a bite of my beef. "He hasn't told me anything yet" my dad answered. "Enough of talking while eating" my mum said, looking at my dad and I. We all went quiet and finished dinner.
*** The next morning, it was difficult to wake up early cos Grace and i talked through the night. The first thing i did when i got downstairs was grab coffee. i drank it like my life depended on it. Grace was still upstairs, sleeping. She still had about 2 hours before she had to be at work.
I walked into my boss's office during lunch. "I am going downstairs for lunch. Do you want anything?" i asked him. "No, i don't. i will soon be going for lunch myself. Thanks for asking " he said, smiling at me "alright then" i replied. As i was about to to leave, i heard a knock on the door "Do i have any appointment now?" Mr Kobe asked. "No sir" i answered, looking confused. "let me ---" i was saying when the person at the door opened the door and walked in. "Mr Baker!" my boss called out. Wait, what! This is Mr Baker? Liam is Mr Baker? s**t! s**t! "Mr Kobe, i came to pick you up for lunch" Mr Baker(known to me as Liam) said to my boss. He turned around and looked at me. "i didn't catch your name the other time at the party" he said, with recognition in his eyes. "i am--, i am--" i began choking on my spit. Mr boss passed water to me and i drank it. it look a few seconds before i stopped coughing "Are you alright?" My boss and Mr Baker said together. "Yes, i am. I am sorry for that." I said to both of them. I turned to Mr Baker and said " I am Mabel and i am Mr Kobe's assistant" forcing myself to look and sound professional. "I will be late for lunch if i don't go now." i said to no one in particular. i turned around and left the office, my heart beating uncontrollably.
