First Day

When I could pull myself from the floor, I went over to my desk and ran my hand over it. It was made from the same wood that Talson's was made from. I sat down in my chair and did a spine, I smiled from ear to ear. I saw a note on my desk. "When you are ready to begin your work come see me in my office" I rolled my eyes I knew it was Talson. So I pushed away from the desk and headed to his office. After the incident in my office, I was not ready to face him. I knocked on his door and he waved me in. He stopped what he was doing and looked up at me. Just like always no smile, slight annoyance written across his face. He picked up a stack of files and handed them to me. I reached out and grabbed them. I was almost dropping them in the process from the weight. "I need you to make sure there are no discrepancies and write a report on what you find if you do find anything. I will show some lead way, if you have any suggestions to make things better write them in the report. Since you have no experience I will have Stacy help you with them. She is the best I have for things like this. Now I don't want to see you anymore until these are done." I nodded and walked out of the office. When I got to mine Stacy was already in a chair ready to work. I was relieved he was giving me some help. I smiled when I walked in and she smiled back. "ready to get these reports done?" she asked "No but at long as I don't have to see your brother for awhile I will be alright" I chuckled. She smiled "Give him some time he will come around," she said as she took the files from my hands. "Let me guess he gave you the budgeting reports to start with," She said as she looked through the files. Sure enough, it was the budgeting. "SO first and foremost we need to start with the calculation of what the overall total budget is. That way If we need to cut things we can find products that would be better suited. Then we will go into seeing any issues in the overall budget reports" She smiled. She could tell I was nervous about it and she reassured me that she would be there every step of the way. So we went in the order that she said and I was amazed at how big of a budget it was, but he has the money to do it. It took us a few hours to finish it but we got it done. Then she showed me how to write up a report with all the discrepancies and changes, as well as suggestions to make things more efficient. When we looked it over together we were happy. We looked at each other, smiled, and high five. "This is our best report yet," She said as she looked at me. "I think you may have a knack for this sort of thing," she told me as she looked at me. "I have always liked numbers," I told her. "I'll let you do the next one your self and if it comes out as good as this one did, Talson may have one hell of an assistant on his hands" she laughed. That made me feel good inside. I have always done things wrong it seemed, but she boosted my confidence. We gathered up all the papers and I headed to Talson's office to give him the revised reports. I knocked on the glass doors and he waved me in. "Done already?" he asked surprised. "yes sir" I said "They better be right considering I gave you help" he said in a low growl. He took the files from me and read them over and even looked at the suggestions. He put down the files and looked up at me "Ms, Malloy, you and Ms. Carter might be on to something. I'll run it by the team and finalize everything. Good work surprisingly now get out" he growled. I think he was annoyed I was good at something. I mean I didn't get a business degree for nothing. I walked out of the office and over to mine. Stacy was still sitting there. "What did he say about the reports?" she asked hopefully. "Ms. Malloy, you and Ms. Carter may be on to something" I tried to impersonate him the best that I could and Stacy just laughed, that was until we heard a voice from behind us. "I don't appreciate the mockery as well as both of you sitting around; doing nothing" Talson Growled. Stacy got up and hurried out the door as she winked at me. "What the hell did that mean?" I thought to myself. He walked over to me and I stepped back. Before I could step back as far as I wanted he grabbed my arm and yanked me towards him. "What is with this man always pulling on me?" I thought. His blue eyes got really dark and cold looking. I was anticipating what he was going to say next. "So you think it's funny to mock me?" he said firmly. "No sir," I said trying to make sure my voice didn't mimic the nervousness that I was feeling. "Don't worry I'll get Ms. Carter for laughing. She knows better than to laugh at a horrible impersonation of me." He said angrily. "Don't you bother her, all I was trying to do was lighten the mood? It's not my fault that you always act like you're high and mighty. Yes, you may be the biggest tech company in new york. That doesn't give you the right to be an asshole though." I said getting annoyed. He chuckled and looked at me "I may be an asshole but you see my company still remains successful and my products remain top quality. Let this be a lesson to you Ms. Malloy I have high connections. One phone call and I can make sure you won't work in this city again." He said, anger written all over his face. I didn't have anything to say to that. I knew one thing about Talson already, he sticks to his word. I need this job more than anything. This was my chance to be able to go to New Jersey soon to see my parents. I looked at Talson and then I turned away I didn't want to see or talk to him. How could he say something like that to me? This job was either going to be the death or me or the success and I was determined to make it a success.
