Her social life was bubbling at a gentle minimum as she sank more and more (and more blissfully) into a college junior’s sober way of life. She insisted upon seeing the steps one evening every two weeks; at the start of each month, she’d draw their joined faces onto the 1st and 3rd Thursday squares on her kitchen calendar. On the first one, she’d bike to their house, borrow the family car and escort the pair to a new place and novel cuisine–Persian in the Loop; Italian on “The Hill”; Indian overlooking the airport. (She, Ashley and Ang’ would offer guesses as to the destination of each roaring take-off.)
