The Alpha’s Rose

Chapter 3

My breathing ragged and Zara going mental in my head my emotions were all over the place. A fine layer of sweat glistened on my skin from running as I stood breathing heavily in front of my mate. All I could think of is why now. Why have I met him now when I’m about to start my new life, I hadn’t even slept in the apartment for the first night!

Trying to steady my breathing back out as I bent double resting on my knees, I tried to focus on who stood in front me, looking at him from the bottom upwards. He was muscular with very defined arms, he was shirtless and had abs to die for and a slight tan on his uncovered abdomen was calling me to run my hands over it. His arms both had tattoos covering them which showed of his bulging muscles even more and all I could think about was tracing the outline of each one with my tongue. I bit my bottom lip to stop me from doing anything silly, and I heard him take in a sharp breath bringing my eyes to his face.

He was gorgeous, the kind of face that belonged on the cover of a magazine or on a statue that was carved by angels! His cheek bones were high and defined and his face was framed with jet black styled hair. But the thing that caught my attention the most was his eyes. They were the brightest blue I have ever seen, like the ocean and I wanted nothing but to swim in them forever. All I could smell was vanilla and coco, so it wasn’t the candles at the pack house it was him I could smell.

He took a step closer to me with his head slightly tilted to the side, his eyes were all over me looking at my curvaceous figure before they settled on my eyes. I felt very exposed for a second but my body loved him taking in every aspect of me. My heart picked up another notch as he was not even an arm’s length away from me. I tried to focus on his face to calm myself down when I realised I knew his face but it was a little different then I remembered. He was more manly now and A LOT more muscular, he’d always been gorgeous but my god he was something else now.

“Ali?” He questioned bringing me back out of my head.

“Nate?” I said back as he brought his body to an inch away from mine.

His hand touched my cheek and it was electric, I could feel sparks everywhere but the ache from the pit of my stomach showed how strong the mate bond was making me want him. He smiled as his hand slowly stroked down my cheek under my ear to the back of neck and he edged in to capture my lips with his. The second his lips lightly touched mine my whole body was on fire with desire and I had no control over it. He ever so gently kissed me once, twice before he kissed me deeper and I responded unable to stop myself. My hands went to his arms and stroked upwards until they met behind his head, as they slid over his arms he moaned quietly into my mouth. With his free arm he slipped it around my waist and pulled my body onto his, his naked torso flush against me and all I could think about was touching it. My hands split and slid from around his neck onto his shoulders and down until they were on either side of his chest. I could feel his heart racing matching the speed of mine. My mouth opened slightly as I let out a silent moan and Nate took this opportunity for his tongue to explore my mouth. Without me having to think about it I responded letting his take dominance over me in the kiss.

We broke away to catch our breaths and realisation kicked in, this was it I had found my mate. I would be expected to run off into the sunset with him and leave my plan for the future behind. To make it worse he was soon to be the next bloody Alpha of our pack so I would be Luna! That is not something I had ever considered or strived to be. There must be 100’s of women in the pack who would love to be Luna why did it have to be me? I wanted to go to College and get a mediocre job, study English and Photography, see the world for heaven’s sake not be stuck here learning how to be the doting wife.

“Ali?” Nate said pulling me out of my battle inside my head, “You ok you look a little confused?”

“Yeah, Yeah I’m fine.” I lied, “I just wasn’t really expecting this and not with you, I mean I’ve just moved away today.”

Nate’s eyebrows furrowed, “What moved away where to?”

“Only into the town I start college in a week so me and Jenny have got an apartment there. Aren’t you a little shocked this has happened?” I ask him suddenly aware he’s still holding me to his body and I’ve still got my hands on his chest, I try to step back a little and put some space between us.

“Not really, I’ve always had a massive crush on you.” My mouth drops open, “Used to torment Jax all the time about it saying you’d be mine one day, that Id catch your eye one day and pin you into being my Luna.” He laughed.

“Oh really I say.” Playfully with one eyebrow raised and a smirk on my face.

He laughs at me and takes a step forward to close the space again, but as he does I slip under his left arm and shoot off into the woods further.

“Let’s see if the big Alpha can stick to his word then!” I laugh as I set off running leaving Nate’s shocked face behind me.

It doesn’t take long until I can hear him on my trail, but I flew through my warrior training so I decided to make it a little harder for him to catch me. Purposely I slowed down until he was just behind me then I ducked and flew off to the right jumping over a tree that had fallen. I could hear him laughing and it was the most amazing sound, it made me grin like a Cheshire cat.

“Ali you know I’ll catch you give it up!” He shouted playfully. Of course I knew he’d catch me eventually he was a bloody Alpha I couldn’t out run him forever but I was going to try to make it fun. Skidding around a sharp bend to my left I started running back towards where we had just come from but there was a line of trees and bushes blocking me from sight. After a minute or so of not passing him on my way back I started wondering if he’d got lost. Then bam, he tackled me to the floor grabbing me and pinning me to his chest as we rolled on the floor. Both of us laughing hysterically he pinned me to the floor.

“Thought you could outsmart me there did you?”

He leant down I could tell a little nervously and stopped just shy from my face, as if asking for permission to close the distance between us. My body completely taking over and doing its own thing, I raised my chin ever so slightly inviting Nate in.

As his lips touched mine again sparks were lighting up my entire body, I couldn’t get enough of the taste of him. He broke off I thought for air but he leant his forehead against mine, I could feel the redness raising on my cheeks.

“Well, I wasn’t expecting this to happen tonight was you?” He said quietly.

A little put about that he was backing off now. It’s because I had just told him I wanted to move away I know it. I could feel myself getting embarrassed, oh my god he didn’t like me any more, he wanted a dutiful Luna by his side always and that wasn’t who I was.

“Ermm no not really.” I said quietly. I tried to wriggle out from underneath him suddenly absolutely mortified at what I had let happen. And he didn’t even like me why is this happening to me today!

He leant back off me looking a little confused and sat back on his knees, I quickly took this opportunity to stand up.

I was that embarrassed I could feel the anger building up inside me, how dare he not like me his own mate. We had known each other for years I cannot believe he would do this to me, he was always so kind and funny. Well if he didn’t want me I sure as wasn’t going to want him either!

“Sorry but I really have to go.” I said very grumpily and before Nate even opened his mouth to respond I was gone, running as fast as I could back to mine and Jenny’s apartment.

All the way home I cursed myself, why did I let that happen, why did I kiss him for goddess sake! Zara whined in my head every second of it begging my to go back to our mate. Fat chance of that!
