Chapter5

Danille’s POV I can’t help this feeling of sorrow I’ve had in my heart since I left the café. The nap didn’t help either, because it started as a pain, but now, I am feeling sadness and anger. I didn’t want to go anywhere. I heard a knock at the door. “What the hell are you doing here? Better yet, how did you know where I was?” “Chill baby, I saw you earlier when I was making a delivery for work and followed you” Donte licked his lips and rubbed his hands together. I felt disgust as he eyed me up and down like he was a lion, and I was his prey. “You didn’t tell Kelly where I am, did you?” “I would never do that to you, Danielle. Plus, you said 8pm.” I looked at the clock on the nightstand. It was only 7:30. “You are really early.” “Yea, I have to take care of a little business a couple of doors down. I will be back by 8 though. Just stopping by to let you know I am here” I pushed him out the door with my hand on his chest. I told him I would meet him at the party since I was running behind schedule. I closed the door and locked both locks. I went into the bathroom to take a hot shower. I don’t know what it is, but Donte gives me the creeps. Talking to him makes my skin crawl like being covered in spiders. The bathroom had complementary facial products, so I decided to indulge. I put on eye patches shaped like commas for dark eyes. Lord knows I need these from all the abuse I suffered over the years since my adoption, I looked like a panda bear. Exfoliating facial wash, wow, I don’t even know what this is for, but I am definitely going to use it. I looked in the mirror to apply the cream for the facial. I blinked my eyes a few times to make sure I wasn’t tripping, but by the third blink I knew I was not going crazy. “Hi Danielle, I am your wolf. My name is Sky, and it is a honor to finally meet you.” I fell back headfirst into a faint. My mind drifted into a storm of dark blue and gray. I was spinning in a circle until I finally was in a forest. There was nothing but big, tall trees all around me. Then I heard a soft growl. I turned slowly to see a white wolf with blue eyes. I thought I would piss myself because of the size of it. Looking into its eyes, the scared feeling dissipated. “Sky,” I said. The wolf handed me her paw as if to say yes. Then the tallest lady I have ever seen in my life appeared beside Sky. She was a giant, with bronze-colored skin, hair flowing down to her waist, and perfect teeth. “I am Casandra. Do not be afraid, Danielle. If it helps, let me..” She instantly became normal size. “Am I dead? Was this a dream? Please don’t hurt me” “Please don’t be afraid of my Dannie, may I call you that?” She reached out to take my hand and I obliged. She was very beautiful. “Are you an Angel?” “No, I am not. I am your creator. Over the centuries, I have been called many names; Selene, Celeste, Morning Star, so many to keep track.” “Morning Star, as in the devil,” I said frantically! “A name given by hunters that want to kill my children because they are different. My children lived in harmony many, many, many, moons ago. Until one day, my firstborn wanted power to rule over everyone. I don’t intervene with my children. They all have their own free will.” “Hmm, that’s nice to know, ugh, Casandra, was it? Yea, well I have to go.” I backed up slowly. This was all crazy and one hell of a dream. I kept shaking my head, stepping away, ready to make a run for it. Then I realized each step I would take, I was still in front of her and the wolf. “Please do not be afraid of me. I will never hurt you.” “If you are some sort of God or Goddess or whatever, where were you when I was being tortured? I was beaten, I was slammed through a wall, stopped from eating as punishment.” I pulled my robe open and told her to look at me. I showed her the scars from being tortured because I was allergic to silver. “I couldn’t intervene because if I did, you would not be the woman you are now, and you will never become the woman you are meant to be.” “That seems to be a sorry ass excuse. Let’s just skip the small talk and tell me why you are here now” I yelled! “Because you are special. Your wolf, Sky, is special. I can’t tell you everything because I cannot intercede with faith. I am only here to let you know that you need to trust your instincts, and to trust your wolf. In time, you will see.” I woke up hearing screaming in the hallway. I went to the door and peeped out of the peephole. I was not ready for what I saw. Donte was on a lady’s neck like he was kissing it, but she slid down the wall unconsciously. He dragged her to the laundry chute and pushed her down. I gasped and he looked in my direction. I covered my hand over my mouth and took steps back until I tripped and fell onto my bed. “He is a vampire,” Sky said. “Wait, I wasn’t dreaming? I really have a wolf in my head. Supernatural creatures are real” KNOCK KNOCK “Answer the door and play it cool. Until our first shift, I won’t be able to protect you.” I gathered my composure. I walked up nervously and opened the door. “Dannie, you are still not ready. Coming to the door in a bathrobe, are you trying to tell me something?” “Not at all. I thought I told you I would meet you there,” I said, tying up my robe. I let him know that I would be there in twenty minutes before closing the door in his face. I have never been so nervous in my life, I said to Sky as I headed to the bathroom to put on my clothes. I decided after tonight, I was going back to the Kings because it just seemed safer.
