Chapter8

Lamar POV

After talking with the police and cooperating with their investigation, I mind-linked De’Shaun to let him know I was on my way back to the pack house.

“I am sorry bro. I don’t know how you are still managing. Your sister is in the ICU at the hospital and your Dad is in critical condition. He wants to speak with you.”

“What about the rest of my family?”

“Leon… Leon couldn’t bare the pain. He ran inside of pack house to find his mate with her neck broken, still holding their baby in her arms. The baby died from inhaling the smoke of the fire, along with your other two nephews. He slit his own throat. I tried to get to him, but I was not fast enough.”

“We found Jackson ripped into pieces on the battlefield. Both my parents didn’t make it. What do we do now, Lamar?”

Listening to Day tell me about all the casualties, I couldn’t control the anger I was feeling. I rampaged through my mind, however, I could not put anything together as to why this was happening to our pack. I didn’t miss the fact that Bella was killed by a vampire. There haven’t been any vamp attacks in a century, at least not since the great pact was made between the five factions. My phone rings to take me out of my thoughts.

“Good evening, this is Vivian from Lakeside Hospital. Is this Mr. Harrison?”

“Hi, yes, this is him. How can I be of service to you, Ms. Vivian? Oh, and apologies for just dropping the young lady off at the hospital. I don’t have any information on her, however, she was hurt at my club. Any expenses, I will take care of.”

“Yes Mr. Harrison. Oh, and my apologies. I assumed you two were a couple.”

“She is the daughter of the King’s. You can reach out to them once she is awake.”

After arriving at the pack house, I went straight to my room for a hot shower. I couldn’t control the tears. One thing about me, I was not good at showing emotion, which is how I gained a reputation for being cold-hearted. I wish I could tell my mom that I love her one last time while giving her a hug. I will never be able to laugh and joke with my brothers again. “Moon Goddess, why is this happening to my family?” Half an hour later, I was meeting De’Shaun in my dad’s office so we could head to the hospital to see my sister and father.

Seeing my sister with all these tubes coming from her body. The tube went down her throat. She lay there in a coma with torment on her face, like she was fighting a battle within. I sat flowers on the nightstand by her bedside. I can’t stand to see her like this, so I advise the doctor to keep me informed with hourly updates.

I went to my father’s private room. I brought him some flowers as well. I know he is feeling the pain from losing my mom as am I. His eyes fluttered opened.

“DAD!”

Wait…Wait…Wait

“Darling, I love you with all my heart and I will wait for you in the next life. Our son is destined for greatness.”

Those are the last words I heard my beloved speak before her heart was ripped out of her chest. I couldn’t do anything to stop it. I felt the connections of my pack members breaking and I felt the pain of my children and grandchildren being slaughtered. The fight was over, and I could hear my son, Lamar, giving orders. I always knew he would be the one to take my place. He was very strategic when thinking and planning. He started in my company at 16, after graduating two years early from high school. He had patents before the age of 20, took my company to a different level of success, and opened his club. I never really told him how proud of him I am.

“DAD!”

I hear my son calling my name. I fought to open up my eyes and see him leaning by my bedside.

“Wa…wa…wa…ter,” I managed to stutter out of my lips faintly.

Lamar puts the cup to my lips to help me drink. I cleared my throat after a few sips to prepare myself.

“Son, I have a story to tell you.”

“We can wait until you are better. You will be able to tell all the stories you want.”

“Please, son, just listen, because I don’t want history to repeat itself.”

“I know you remember all the stories I used to tell you kids, but all the stories aren’t just stories. I told you kids things to prepare you for what might be and what might come. There is one story that I have yet to tell you. It is a prophecy that involves you.”

“What kind of prophecy would involve me? Dad, you are just rambling. Let me get the doctor in here.”

“Many moons ago, werewolves, vampires, witches, and humans lived in peace. Then humans started being murdered. They started to fear what they did not know. The bodies were being set as if werewolves were killing off the humans, so they captured a witch, Elena, and locked her way until they could get what they wanted from her. They threatened Elena with killing her family. Elena was tortured horribly until she finally gave in. Elena created hunters for the humans that captured her. There were five families, and it is said that the firstborn to these families would be a hunter. They don’t know what they are or discover their abilities until they are 18 years old. The hunters have the speed of a vampire, the strength of a wolf, and the wisdom of a witch. Elena killed the vampire king, the wolf king, and the mother of the coven to create the spell. The power surged through all the firstborn. Whenever they were near a supernatural creature, they became killers unable to stop until it was dead. To test the theory, they brought in Elena’s two children. They were slaughtered in front of her. Their sights turned to Elena, but what the humans didn’t know that Elena was the first hybrid, part witch, part werewolf. She double-crossed the humans. It is said that Elena’s wolf was different from all the other wolves because Elena was the daughter of the Goddess herself. They called her wolf The Celestial Wolf. Elena murdered 2 of the firstborn from the families and all the guards. It was a bloodbath. She gathered her children's remains and told the remaining of the living that the killer was already among them, posing as a human. She buried her children and then killed herself to be with them.”

“Great story dad. I don’t see what this has to do with me.”

“The prophecy says the moon Goddess, blessed Elena to be reborn so she can find her mate, and they will take revenge on those who brought them harm, but only if it is their choice. Every hundred years, it is said that they are reborn only to end up with the same fate. The 3rd son will be the 4th born.”

“Wait, are you trying to tell me that I am the reincarnation of Elena’s mate?”

“Son, my time as Alpha is over. Your brothers are both gone, and your sister is fighting for her life. Your mom was the love of my life.”

Tears began to run down my cheeks. I mind-link my Beta and he comes right into the room.

“Give me your hand, son.” I opened my mind-link so that all the pack members could hear me.

“I, Alpha Lawrence Harrison of the Blood Moon Pack and ruler of the Northern Territory, hereby announce my son, Lamar Harrison, as your new Alpha. Beta, the ball will go on as scheduled. After the ball, you may retire, but I expect you to always be there for my son when I cannot. Am I clear?”

Everyone starts to responds Yes Alpha through the mind-link. The nurse comes in and tells everyone they have to leave, so I can get more rest.
