“You look like hell,” Alan commented as Lucas slumped in the passenger seat. “Did you sleep at all?” “Tried.” Lucas ran his hand through his hair. He lay awake trying to figure out some way to make up for the pain and misery his mother, sister and Madeline put Sarah through. An apology just didn’t cut it. He had to do more.
