"What are you thinking about?" Tony says as he wraps his tan arms around my shoulders, snapping me out of my dark thoughts.
"How long was I out of it?" I ask him. I don't even realize we've walked all the way to the beach house and are right in front of the door.
That means I was probably silent for the past twenty minutes - the entire walk down here
Tony rings the doorbell and we wait.
"Valerie's mom creeps me out" I confess. I don't want to be anywhere near that woman, much less a whole entire weekend. "Something's off about her"
"Careful J, she might be eavesdropping" Tony laughs nervously trying to break the tension. It doesn't reach his eyes. He's scanning the place as if he's actually worried Mrs Solen might be eavesdropping.
