CHAPTER 5The ride was quiet and also had this cold air, no one talked even Giovanni who was talkative. He tried to put on his music in his brother car but unfortunately, the man swatted his hand earning a whine from him. Max glared at him while driving straight, Jayla was panicking since he was driving and didn't look at the front but surprisingly he was a very good driver and even turned to the right without looking at the front as if he knew the roads already. "Brother you should look at the front, you don't want to scare our guest at the back." Giovanni said with amusement, Max rolled his eyes and finally looked at the front, the girl sighed in relief and played with her fingers since she had nothing to do. "So Jay..." Gio started, dragging her surname. "Yes." She replied. "Do you think that I'm hot?" As soon as she heard his question, she lifted her up toward him and looked at him with widened eyes. Max clenched his fist around the wheel and narrowed his eyes at the front, he was pissed that his brother asked such a dumb question which he already knew the answer to, he hoped that she will answer him truthfully by saying no. "I don't know." She stuttered. Max frowned as he drives, he was content that she didn't say he was hot but also didn't know what to feel about her answer. "Well people tell me I'm hot, you know a bunch of photographers called me to model for them." Giovanni smirked. "Keep lying Gio." Max said sarcastically for the first time in the car, he was annoyed that he keeps testing his patience. Gio already knows that his brother cared for Jayla even though he doesn't show it. "We have reached the house!" Gio ignored his comment and yelled happily as they saw an immense mansion in front of them, Jayla gasped in awe and looked at the beautiful mansion in front of her. "That's your house?" She asked bewildered. "Yep, it's amazing!" He sang and opened the door when his brother parked the car along with other expensive cars beside it. "Get out of the car." Max said coldly, he was watching her looking at the view surrounding them, she nodded and opened the door quickly not wanting to anger him any more. She stepped out of the car and closed her eyes as she breathed the fresh air, they were surrounded by a lot of trees barricading the mansion, she happens to know this house. The house is the most expensive in Raven, she wondered how did they buy the house. She walked quickly to Gio who was going inside, she totally forgot about Max as she stared at the front. "Beta Giovanni, how are you?" A man asked as he bowed at Gio and looked at him, Gio glared at him and mentioned Jay beside him, the man widened his eyes in shock and let down his head. What the f**k? What happened? And why the hell this man called Giovanni a surname? Jayla thoughts. "I'm so sorry, please forgive me." The man excused him and bowed again, he lifted up his head and straightened his back and kept his eyes behind them. "Al-" "Jason get out of here before I do something to you." Max warned at him, Jason nodded and ran off to somewhere else. "What was that?" Jayla asked the brothers. "It was nothing." Giovanni said and grin softly. "He called you beta and he apologized but what for? I don't understand." She whispered to herself softly and tried to think of an explanation then suddenly she felt a hand on her back, she flinched and looked up to see who is it. It was Max who held her back. "What are you doing?" She asked. "I'm escorting you to my house. Come on." He said and showed her the way to his house. It was the first time that a man touched her back in a soft way, she was afraid and also surprised that Max could do this to her. He was cold and always looking grumpy, she didn't know this side of him being kind and soft. "Why is this guy called Gio a beta?" She asked Max while they are walking toward the living room with his hand still on her back, he wasn't ready to leave his hand, he felt like this was appropriate and was right. "It's actually a dare, Gio lost and the dare was that everyone should call him beta which means idiot." He said, hiding the truth about their kind. It wasn't the time to reveal to her who is he really. "Oh well, that sucks." She said, understanding what he said. "Exactly, anyway sit down I will bring you a glass of juice. Don't you dare more out of the sofa and don't even talk to people, alright?" He said after he left her sitting on the sofa before she can even answer him, he ran away from her, going upstairs. "Great." She sighed softly and looked at the living room, it was not a living room but more like a hall, there is big stairs in the middle of the hall and modern lights on the ceiling. "Having fun?" Jayla jumped out of the sofa, holding her poor heart, she breathed heavily as she looked at the handsome species behind her, his eyes full of amusement and a grin on his lips. "Hello?" She said hesitantly. "Hey, I'm Mattia and you?" "I'm Jayla." She said shaking his hand who he held his hand in front of her. He jumped on the sofa, leaving a space between them and opened a can of beer. "Want some?" He pointed the beer, Jayla cringed and shook her head. "Okay." He shrugged and brought the can between his lips, drinking it. "So what are you doing here?" He asked after gulping the beer down his throat. "Well Eleanor invited me here and now I'm waiting for her." "Oh little Eleanor invited you here, so you are basically her friend." He said, looking at her. "Yes, I'm her friend." She said those words that came out foreign, she didn't know what was their relationship. "I thought you were Max mate, you have this strong air aroun-"
