Chapter One

1156 Words
Violet Mercado On the first day of school, while I was walking in a corridor, I noticed that men were running in my direction. Shortly after that, I was grabbed by one of them and had a gun pointed at my neck. "DON'T MOVE OR I'LL BLEW THIS GIRL'S HEAD OFF!" the man shouted near my ear. I closed my eyes in annoyance at the sound of his shout in my ear and the foul smell of his breath. It smells like his tongue fart. I realized I got lost in my thoughts when I noticed that people were rounding up around us. I noticed someone from the Gangster World. My rival, Jun Villaruel, 18 years old, is taking a course in Engineering based on what I heard. He is famous because there are a lot of girls getting excited at the sight of him. "Taking a hostage, are we? Let Violet go and fight fair," Jun shouted to my hostage-taker. "You know who I am?" I asked Jun, confused. "Of course I know you. You are the top student in your department, right?" he said in annoyance. What a jerk. I got annoyed so I grabbed the hand of this man and bit it aggressively. "Argh!" shouted the hostage-taker. I kicked him in the feet after I bit him and then walked away if nothing happened. "Ow! f*ck! f*ck! f*ck!" I heard him shout while walking away. I arrived in the classroom early and the Professor wasn't there yet and I saw a lot of familiar faces. I noticed that a new girl was sitting next to my seat. I looked at her from head to toe. She glances in my direction when she notices my arrival. Then I remembered that she was Jane Hernandez, 17 years old, the leader of their gang, which was rank 3. She stared at me while walking towards the seat beside her. The moment I took my seat she teasingly looked at me. I ignored her and stared out the window. "Good morning class!" the professor greeted her upon entering the class with her materials for the lessons today. She looked around the class and noticed the new girl. "Looks like we have a new classmate? Why are you seated there beside Ms. Mercado?" the professor asked Jane. "Because it's vacant?"Jane sarcastically answered. "Well, then it's your choice. I hope you can last beside her. Okay, can you please stand up Ms., and introduce yourself so we'll know what to call you," the prof said, and Jane took a stand and headed in front of the class. It's not like I am a b*tch, but they just can't stay seated beside me. I just don't talk much unless it is a recitation. They get annoyed when they ask questions but don't get an answer from me. That's why they all leave the seat beside me, they say I am annoying. The class continued after Jane introduced herself. All the class went well through lunch break. I went to the cafeteria to eat lunch. I bought four different dishes and tried something new from the menu. I take a seat at the usual table I use here. "Why aren't you eating rice?" someone asked from behind me. I did not bother to answer because I knew who it was. "Hello? Aren't you gonna answer me?" Jun asked when I stared at him while he took a seat in front of me. Due to my laziness, I didn't bother to answer his questions and continued eating... "Wow! You are a wasteful woman," Jun said while staring at what I was doing. "Will you ever talk to me?" he asked again. *** "Is that jun? Why is he talking to that ugly girl?" Girl 1 " Who is she? Why is she at the same table as Jun?" Girl 2 "Let's wait for her at the front gate," Girl 3 "Let's go." Girl 1 *** They are whispering to each other loudly. They shouldn't have to make an effort to make it look like a whisper when all they want is to broadcast it to the whole cafeteria. It's so annoying. I finished tasting my food and I took out my leftovers on the counter. "What are you going to do with that?" Jun asked. I'm still ignoring him while waiting for my leftovers to be packed. After I got my food, I went straight to the back gate to leave school. I heard the girls shouting that they would wait for me at the front gate. I'm not stupid to fall for that. "Why are you going this way? Are you scared of those girls?" Jun asks again while following me up to this point. I just don't give a damn about him, so I don't care if he follows me everywhere. In the middle of walking, I stopped by a store where I usually buy rice." Five rice," I said to the old lady. "Here," she said, then give me my rice and I gave my payment. After that, I took my leave and Jun is still following me. I still don't give a damn about him and I still don't care. I keep on walking until I see a family that lives on scraps. I stop in front of them and give them my leftovers and rice that I bought a while ago and then leave. "Thank you Ms..," the lady said. She looks like she's a mother. "Wow! What a Good Samaritan," Jun said. I'm not used to having a company. I'm getting near my apartment and I'm getting annoyed. I had no choice but to let him do what he wanted until we went in front of my apartment. I just ignored him and went straight inside. Good thing he didn't follow me inside. Jun Villaruel "Of all people! Why does it have to be Violet?" I asked my friend, annoyed. "It's because she is famous to all boys and you lose our game, so you need to make her speak at least 20 words," Dave said. They are my gang-mates and my friends too. "But it looks like that girl never learned how to talk to another person," I said, and irritatingly, seated on the sofa here in my condo. "Well, we can change your dairy if you want to. But, it will be much harder than this one," Jayson said teasingly. "What is it then?" I asked, irritated. "Get married to Jessica," Arthur answered. "No way! I'll just suffer on that dare with Violet," I gave up. We made a bet earlier. The one who didn't catch trespassers will be given a dare, and, luckily, I am the loser. The dare is to make Violet say at least 20 words. A small number, but it is absolutely impossible to happen. Especially earlier, surely she got annoyed at me because of the way I answered. _______________________________
