Jasper stared at the screen. He typed slower, as if respect would change the answer.
“Access denied. Role: read_only. For changes, contact Legal."
“What the—"
He hit refresh. Same message.
He grabbed the desk phone. “IT. Now."
A harried voice answered on the second ring. “Luis."
“My admin's broken," Jasper said. “Fix it."
“What are you seeing, sir?"
“My admin's broken," he repeated, teeth tight. “It says read_only."
A pause. Keys clicked somewhere. “Per Legal hold," Luis said carefully. “All superusers were re-provisioned. Your account is currently read-only by directive."
“My directive supersedes their directive."
Luis cleared his throat. “Per Legal, it doesn't. Sir."
“Put Legal on."
“Check your inbox," Luis said. “There's a company-wide."
