Sophie
After I saw Jay walking to the front entrance of the school, he disappeared. When I get home I a send him like a million texts. Before I go to bed, I text him, “Can you please answer me?, you’re scaring me”.
When I wake up, notice he still hadn’t texted back. “Why are you ignoring me?”.
“Why aren’t you answering?”.
I check again around noon and see the dots, until it disappears. “I’m worried about you, you’ve been avoiding me, what’s going on?,” I send. After a while, he finally texts, “Sorry, I’ve just had a lot going on,”. “You could’ve just told me, I would’ve supported you, like you always support me?,” I type.
As soon as I hit send, I grab my coat and slip on my boots and start walking to Jay's house. Me and Jay live in the same neighborhood, so it’s close. I knock on the door and Jay’s mom answers, “Hi, Sophie”.
“Hello, Mrs. Johnson, is Jay home?”.
“No, he should be back soon, wanna come in?,” she asks.
“No thank you, I wanna wait for him,” I say with a small smile. I stand in front of the door and just wait.
After a few minutes, Jay is walking up to me. I close the distance between us and smack him, hard on the arm. “How could you ignore me!,” I yell, “Do you Know how much you worried me!!, and avoiding me at school!”.
“I’m sorry,” he says.
“Is that all you have to say?!. What happened? Are you hurt?.
“No, I just need some time,” he says, looking at me with deep hurt in his eyes.
“Okay,” I say hugging him, “If you need anything, just text me”.
*Jay’s mom’s pov*
When I’m walking down the stairs, I hear the door open, I turn to see who it is and it’s Jay, looking absolutely destroyed, bawling his eyes out. I hadn’t seen him cry that hard since he was a baby.
“What’s wrong, Honey,” I ask, feeling every bit as hurt as my son looks.
“What are you talking about, mom?,” he asks with a confused look.
“You’re crying,” I say, getting teary eyed. He feels his face and says, “Oh, I didn’t realize,” with a blank look. Did something happen?” I ask with a concerned voice. “No, nothing happened”, he says as his voice cracks. “Oh, come here, Honey,” I say, catching him before he falls.
We sit on the floor for hours as he sobs into my arms uncontrollably. Something broke inside me, seeing my baby so hurt. Only someone he truly loves could’ve hurt him like this.
He eventually falls asleep crying.
While he’s asleep, I drag him onto the couch, with a lot of cursing (I’ll spare your ears).

When his father gets home, he asks, “why’s he passed out on the couch?”. “He came home crying the hardest I’ve ever seen anyone cry in my life,” I say with a concerned look. “He eventually fell asleep while crying,” I add.
“Do you know why he was crying?,” he asks.
“No”.

I go into the kitchen and make some pancakes. Jay comes in and asks
What’s the special occasion”.
“Why do we need a special occasion?,” I say with fake disbelief.
“You never make pancakes unless something special happens, like a birthday, and it’s not christmas yet,”.
“Just felt like it”.
I ask him what happened and he tells me, with teary eyes.

“We’re going on a trip to your grandparents house,” I remind him before he leaves to hang out with his friends.
