Chapter 11

828 Words
Jay I bolt up in a cold sweat, panting. I switch on the light and look around the room. Surprisingly I find exactly what I’m looking for. I walk over to my coat. “Bingo,” I say with a smirk, pulling out my key. I reach into the other pocket and grab my phone. I call my mom. “Mom?”. “Yes, Jay?,” she says with a yawn. “What if I have evidence of the person who tried to kill me,” I say. “Do you!?!,” she asks loudly. I chuckle, “I think I do,”. “Does dried blood work?,” I ask. She gasps, “How!,” she says so loud that I hold my phone an arms length away. On her end I hear what sounds like someone falling. “What’s going on!,” I hear a discombobulated Sophie say in a tired voice. “Jay has evidence of the person who tried to kill him!!,” she says. At that I hear my grandma enter the room. “How!?!?!,” everyone asks in excited voices. “Since when,” my dad asks. “When they were leading me through the place I was found. I turned around and slashed their face with my house key before they got me. It was never cleaned. I just realized when I was asleep,” I say with a shrug. My mom and Sophie shriek in excitement. “That son of a b***h is going down,” Sophie yells. “I should probably go,” I say yawning, “I need some more sleep”. “Night,” they all say. “G’night,” I say, hanging up and plopping down on the hospital bed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When I wake up I go on my phone and text Sophie, “I’m up”. “Okay, we’re gonna come soon,” she immediately replies. “Bring a small zip lock bag pls”. “Okay!”. I lay down in the hospital bed and chill on my phone, til I hear a knock on the door. “Come in!,” I say, repositioning myself. “Hi Jay,” Sophie says, handing me the ziplock bag I’d asked her to bring. “Thanks Sophie,” I say. “I didn’t know if you’d bring it”. “Of course I will”. Mom, dad and grandma all burst out laughing, looking at me and Sophie. “Get a room,” my grandma mumbles under her breath. I roll my eyes and take the ziplock from Sophie. I open it and put the key in. “Is that the evidence,” Sophie asks, looking at the key. “Yep,” I say, closing the bag mostly and flattening it to get the air out. “Can you put the key in that safe you have, and don’t take it out (no matter what) until I come home and we can turn it in?,” I ask everyone in a quiet voice. “Make sure no one sees you with it,” I say, handing it to Sophie. “Be careful. You never know what might happen,” I whisper. They all nod. “We’ll make sure to keep it safe til we get home,” my mom says, nodding at Sophie. “Bye!,” I say, “Be safe”. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I lay in bed, yawning. The moment my head hits the pillow I’m out. My eyes bolt open, a hand on my throat. I try to call out for help but Stabby Mc stabbystein (and by that I mean the attempted murderer) is on their knees next to me on the bed, leaning forward with their hands on my throat. I attempt to breathe and the result seems obvious enough. So I overpower them and flip on top of them, putting my arm to their throat. “HELP,” I call out. Immediately I hear hurried footsteps traveling towards my door. “Bang,” my door opens hitting the wall. “What’s—,” a doctor starts to say, until she looks. Someone flips the lightswitch on. “I woke up to this person— the person who previously tried to kill me, trying to choke me”. One of the doctors calls the cops. “Now let’s see who did all of this,” Someone says, I nod my head in agreement, while two of the doctors keep them restrained. I yank off their mask. I gasp in horror, dropping the mask. I bring my hands up to my mouth, tears fall from my eyes. “How could you?!,” I ask In utter confusion. “I did what I had to do,” they say, their scar appearing newly red. “Why did you tho, I thought we were friends. I thought we bonded,” I say, my tears falling uncontrollably.
