Chapter 7

490 Words
Jay sorry, am I being hit on?!. “What is happening?!!,” I ask, stopping with wide eyes and a confused face. “What do you mean?,” she asks, “I like you, isn’t it obvious?!”. “Not to me!,” I practically yell, with a squeaky voice. “According to my friend, I’m very dense when it comes to this stuff,” I say matter of factly. “Anyways, I can’t return your feelings,” I say with a sorry expression. “I can’t do that to them,” I say under my breath. “Oh, ok,” she says, looking absolutely crushed, like a child who lost their favorite toy. “We should keep walking,” she says, her head hanging low. When we arrive at the bowling alley, someone waves at us. Claire waves back, the aura of gloom and doom previously surrounding her immediately disappearing. She didn’t look as if she’d just gotten her heart broken, that is, until you reached her eyes. Through her eyes you can see the hurt etched deep into her soul. When we approach them I say, “Hi, I’m Jay, nice to meet you”. “Hi, Jay ,” they say, going around and saying their names. “We should go get our shoes,” they say, walking towards the front counter. Once we got our shoes we each grab the ball were going to use. “Have you ever been bowling,” one of the many people whose name I can’t remember asks me. “Yeah, I'm TOTALLY great at bowling,” I say sarcastically, with a nervous laugh. “Yeah. I’m not so great either,” they say, scratching their head. “Yeah”. “Yeah,” they say. “Such an interesting topic,” I say as we both burst into laughter. “I know you probably don’t remember my name,” he says, “I’m Xander,” he shakes my hand. “Yeah, I really wouldn't have remembered,” I say with a chuckle. “Can I see your phone,” he says. “Sure,” I say, handing him my phone. “There,” he says, “That way you can’t forget my name,” he snaps a picture and hands my phone back. “You can use that as my picture”. “Where are you visiting from anyways,” he asks. “San francisco”. “Really?,” he asks with an astounded expression, “I’m moving there soon”. “That's a crazy big coincidence,” I say with a chuckle. “YUP,” he says with a big goofy grin. “I have a feeling we're gonna be good friends,” I say, with a grin so wide I cant see. He chuckles. “ Yeah, I do too,” he says, his smile getting even bigger, bigger than you would've thought possible.
