As the days passed, Geraldine began to detest the sight of the calendar on her office table. She hated to date her letters. Both clamoured that October was closing and November was at hand. When she had defied Nicholas, it was in the hope that inspiration would come to her. During the days that followed, she formed and rejected a score of plans.
