Katie POV
"Stop playing hard to get, Katie!" one of the girls jeered from the car, her voice filled with malicious amusement.
"Yeah," another chimed in with a cruel smirk, "look at the dump." You should be grateful for the attention."
Davis’s grip tightened, and he leaned in, his breath hot and repugnant against my ear. “You should feel lucky. I still want to f**k you,” he sneered, his words dripping with vile contempt. “Tell you what? I’ll pay you double if you invite your sister. I don’t think I’ve ever had s*x with sisters... or a girl with cancer.”
A surge of rage and disgust coursed through me as I struggled harder against him. "No," I spat, my voice rising in defiance, though panic clawed at the edges of my mind.
Before Davis could press further, a blur of movement came from behind. In an instant, a man rushed forward, his voice a thunderous roar. “Get your f*****g hands off my wife!”
The impact was swift and brutal. Evan, fueled by fury, shoved Davis hard, sending him sprawling to the ground. Davis hit the pavement with a thud, his eyes wide with shock and a tinge of fear as he looked up at Evan.
Evan stood over him, his chest heaving, fists clenched, ready to strike again if Davis moved.
Everyone around us fell silent, their phones quickly raised to record the unfolding drama. The crowd seemed frozen in a mixture of shock and intrigue, whispers filling the air as they captured every moment of the confrontation.
Evan turned to me, his eyes softening as he stepped closer. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice a stark contrast to the fury he'd just unleashed on Davis.
I blinked, still processing the whirlwind of events. "How did you find me?" I asked, my voice trembling with a mix of relief and surprise. Before I could fully articulate my thoughts, a voice from behind us cut through the moment.
"Do you know who the f**k I am?" Davis spat, struggling to his feet, his face contorted with rage and humiliation.
The tension in the air thickened, all eyes darting between Evan and Davis. It was a standoff, and I could feel the intensity crackling like electricity. My heart pounded in my chest as I braced for what would happen next.
Davis sneered, his voice dripping with venom as he spat, "My father can buy you and your loser b***h of a"
Before he could finish his sentence, Evan's fist connected with Davis's mouth, cutting off his words and sending him staggering backward. A gasp rippled through the crowd, followed by stunned silence.
Evan stood over Davis, his eyes cold and unrelenting. "What sorry bastard is responsible for you?" he growled.
Madison, who had been watching from the car with wide eyes, quickly stepped out, her heels clicking on the pavement as she approached. "Grant Williams," she said, her voice wavering slightly but still holding an edge of defiance. "His father owns the Grant Consulting Group on Wall Street."
Evan raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Oh, well, that's cute," he replied, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Did your father happen to inform you that his firm's been acquired for 47.8 million dollars?"
Madison's face paled, and she faltered. "W-what?"
The revelation sent a shockwave through the group, and the murmurs grew louder. Davis, still on the ground, glared up at Evan, his bravado crumbling as he wiped blood from his lip.
Davis's face twisted in confusion and shock as he spat out, "How do you know that number? That's confidential. Not even the company knows that. Only my dad and the CEO that he sold to..."
Evan's smirk deepened, and he shook his head in disbelief. "You know, you might be dumber than you look," he said, his tone dripping with condescension. "Why don't you take one wild guess who that CEO is?"
Davis's eyes widened, and realization dawned on him. "You... you bought my father's company?" he stammered, his voice barely a whisper.
Evan crossed his arms, his gaze unwavering. "Bingo," he said smoothly. "And tell me, does Grant know that you've been using his car to attack people like a creepy prick?"
Davis's bravado evaporated completely, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to form a response. The crowd around them buzzed with murmurs and whispers, all eyes locked on the scene unfolding before them.
I was standing beside Evan, watching in stunned silence. The tension in the air was palpable.
Evan raised an eyebrow, his gaze never leaving Davis as he continued, "Or should I bring that up when I fire him?"
Davis's face was drained of color. He stumbled backward, then fell to his knees, panic taking over. "No, no, no! Please, don’t tell my dad. Please, I’ll do anything!" he pleaded, his voice cracking.
Before Evan could respond, Madison stepped forward, her voice laced with disbelief and scorn. "Get the f**k up, Davis! He’s lying. Why would a CEO waste his time on Katie?" She sneered, her eyes darting between me and Evan, looking for any signs of weakness.
I clenched my fists, My breath hitching at Madison's cruel words. Before I could defend myself, Evan's expression darkened, his voice calm but deadly. "Why?" he echoed. "Because Katie is worth more than your entire existence."
The crowd gasped, and Madison's confidence wavered. "You're bluffing," she shot back, though her voice had lost its edge. "There’s no way you’re a CEO."
