Daniel’s POV-
Katie marches straight towards us, shoving Sarah and Dana out of the way, before glaring at them both, and growling, “f*****g leave, right now, before I knock you the f**k out.”
“Don’t talk to my girlfriend like that,” Mike said, with no real anger.
“Yeah, you can’t talk to me like that,” Sarah said.
“I can when it comes to club business, and you will never be part of the club,” Katie spat, before turning to me, and saying, “We need to get to the clubhouse, NOW!”
She grabbed my arm and began to tug me towards the parking lot, where our bikes were. She was even pulling her brother along.
Devil and Phoenix both followed us. Katie had mentioned club business and I knew that would have made them follow no matter what.
As soon as we were in the parking lot, we got on our bikes and drove to the clubhouse.
Mike called the Prez, his father, and told him that we were on our way to the clubhouse, that Katie had barked club business as his girlfriend and not said anything else. Prez was not happy that we had left school, claiming club business. He told us that he was in church with all the guys, told us to wait outside, not that I think that Katie would listen.
After fifteen minutes of riding our bikes, we were parking outside the clubhouse. Katie ran like a bat out of hell, towards the meeting hall we use for church.
“s**t, we need to hurry and stop her or Prez will be pissed,” Mike said.
We all ran after Katie, as she ran straight past the old ladies and the babies and was already approaching the two prospects that were standing guard outside of church. They straightened the moment they saw us coming.
Mike yelled, “Stop her.”
But Katie dodged them like a pro-athlete sprinting to the goal. She used her small stature against the pair of these prospects. I bit back a chuckle, as she booted the church doors open, and sixty hardened male bikers all turned towards her.
Prez looked furious, as Mike growled, “Prez said we needed to wait till after church to do whatever it is you made us leave school for.”
“Shut the f**k up, Mike. If I am right about this, one of our own is in danger. So, pipe down and shut it,” Katie snarled at him.
I noticed immediately that it caught the attention of every Knight in the room. The one thing you do not do is mess with one of our own. It always ends badly.
“What the f*****g hell is going on?” Prez shouted, marching towards us, with my dad in tow.
Katie walked straight past him toward Gold. Oh s**t, she really thinks that Olivia and Gold might be related.
“Lift your f*****g shirt up, Gold. I need to see your birthmark now,” Katie said, in a voice that I could only describe as the kind of voice a mother would use when she is pissed.
“What the f**k?” Gold gasped, his eyes wide, as he turned to look at Prez.
“Katie, sweetie, explain yourself right now. Why are you demanding our treasurer show you his birthmark?” Prez asked, as calmly as he could.
Katie pulled out her phone, tapped away on it and turned the screen to Gold. “Do you know this woman? Is she your ex, the woman that left you?”
Gold's brow furrowed, as he looked closely at the phone and said, “How did you find her? How did you find out about her?”
“Is she?” Katie asked again.
Gold nodded, but before he could say anymore, Katie said, “Now, show me your birthmark.”
Gold froze and then his slowly widened, whispering, “She has a kid.”
“A daughter,” Katie said.
Gold moved, lifting his shirt up at the back to show his birthmark. I watched Katie swipe at her phone screen, and then look between her phone screen and the birthmark on Gold’s back.
“Its identical,” Katie said.
“You took a picture of Olivia,” I snarled.
“Well, it was the perfect way to have proof of the birthmark,” Katie rolled her eyes at me.
“Don’t talk to Katie like that, son,” Dad said to me.
“It is okay, Dragon. Your son likes Olivia. He doesn’t like that I have a photo of her,” Katie chuckled.
Dad turned to look at me, but ignored him, and walked straight to Katie, and said, “Did you see more bruising than what I saw on her neck?”
She held the phone out to me, as Gold came to my side to look at the picture too. As soon as I saw the near black bruises that littered her ribs and back, and the bandages that she was wrapping around her ribs.
Gold growled, “You think this, Olivia, might be my child.”
“Your eyes are almost identical,” Phoenix said, her voice sounding distant, as I struggled to control the surge of rage boiling inside me.
“Katie, take your phone back,” I growled.
The moment she did, I grabbed the nearest chair and threw it across the room. I roared, as I began punching the nearest wall over and over again. Gold and my dad both grabbed me, as my dad said, “Calm down, son, and then we can plan how we are going to help her.”
I looked between my dad and Gold. Gold sighed, “I know you are a good man. You care about her?”
I nodded, “Since I first met her, and now I feel like I failed her.”
“I might be her biological father, there is no bigger failure than me,” Gold responded.
“This is all circumstantial at best,” Mike interjected. He was still annoyed with how Olivia stood up and made an absolute fool out of his girlfriend earlier today.
Katie burst out laughing, as she calmed down, she sighed, “You really don’t know me at all, do you?” She pulled a zip lock bag from her school bag. Inside was a bloody rag and a large ball of hair. She held it out to Doc, and asked, “You think you could run a paternity test on the blood and hair there, against Gold?”
Doc stepped forward, as my dad and Gold released me. I could see Gold was eagerly awaiting what Doc would say. Doc took the bag from Katie, and looked at Gold. “I should have more than enough DNA here to run a paternity test several times over, if you want Gold.”
“Let’s go,” Gold said, rushing off with Doc.
Prez banged his fist on the table and shouted, “You could all see that this is an important matter for our treasurer. I will continue church tomorrow morning. Dismissed.”
Everyone began to filter out except for my dad, Prez, and us kids. Prez looked at Katie and said, “Delete the photo of her you took. We don’t need her knowing that you took a photo of her.”
Gold walked back in a moment later, and said, “Doc swabbed my cheek and told me he should know something within the hour, so I will need to come wait. I thought I would come talk to the kids if that is alright. I want to know more about Olivia.”
“Let’s go to my office, and we will sit there,” Prez suggested.
Everyone nodded, so we made our way there. Dad walked next to me, and whispered, “Why did you tell me you liked a girl?”
“I wasn’t ready to,” I shrugged.
We took a seat on the huge couches that Prez had in his office. Katie was showing Gold pictures of Olivia from her social media.
I just kept checking my phone, hoping she would text me. I assume she probably knew that I had left the school grounds with this lot. Why wasn’t she texting me? Maybe I should text her. No, I shouldn’t push her.
I don’t even know how long, I just stared at her number on my phone screen, ignoring the conversations going around me, until the door burst open and Doc rushed in a little out of breath.
He held out the test results, and said, “Gold, you are her biological father.”
Gold buried his face in his hands. You could see the emotions running through him. An accident last year left him unable to have kids. Finding out he has already got one kid, one who is seventeen, made him happy. But then he had to deal with the emotions of not being there for her, of not protecting her, of missing seventeen years of her life. Of wondering what she knows about him. Whether he could be the father she needs, that she deserves. Add in the rage of knowing she is being abused, not knowing how far it has gone, and anger towards her mother for hiding his child from him.
“What do you want to do?” Prez asked Gold.
We waited for his answer.
