“Welcome back,” Ajax’s voice rung out through his office,” Mother, Father. Where is Phoebe?”
His Mother, Odanna, rocked side to side trying to find the words,” She found her mate and refused to come home even before that,”
Sighing, Ajax paced around the room. She still hadn’t got over it even though it had bee so long since he’d become alpha. Though he would understand, he hoped one day his mate could be the light of his life, so as long as Phoebe was happy and healthy.
Looking back at his parents, Ajax smiled,” Julie should be here soon. So should Rebecca, is Jasper okay he seemed a little ill?”
“Yes, you know him he gets very travel sick,” His father, Richard replied.
The door opened hastily and Julie rushed in, Rebecca behind her cradling a tiny baby. As soon as they both walked in, Odanna was all over her grandchild- cooing excitedly. There were many comments about how cute he was, Richard even included some.
Leaning against the bookshelves, Ajax watched them with a small smile. One day his mate would accept him and they would be the ones whose child was getting fussed over. The future alpha would be in his mate’s arms, getting all the true attention he deserved.
“Alpha!” A guard mind-linked, he could hear the worry,” There is a situation with the girl,”
‘The girl’ of course was Laviania. After she had fallen asleep, out of mostly exhaustion- she had a lot of fight in her despite her size- Ajax moved her into a prison cell. Inside there was a single bed, sink and dirtied mirror. It was the best one down there (and he had to add all the items stated).
Ajax looked to his parents,” I have to go sort something out in the cells,”
Odanna and Richard looked confused but nodded understandingly. Julie had a slight smirk on her face, her mouth was slightly open- ready to spill the news of what Ajax had to sort out in the cells.
Mud stuck to her legs, clinging on with mauled hands. They tried dragging her down into the sea of dirt, in some attempt to drown her or keep her in place until she was found. The squelching of her feet intensified as she resisted the trap trying to capture her.
Howls ripped through the air, they were coming closer.
It was harder to escape whilst she couldn’t shift, not when she was in so much pain. Years of torture had taken a toll on her body, with the kind she suffered it would any other wolf. Yet she still couldn’t understand why it had all happened to her.
Finally, her feet managed to wriggle their way out of the mud and she was running again. Wind whipped her strawberry-blonde hair but it was now a dullish colour from ages without seeing the sun. Her skin was a deathly pale, much like a ghostly figure.
Everything hurt, everything was breaking. Her bones were giving up but she couldn’t stop.
Suddenly she was knocked to the ground. Looking up her vision was met with sickeningly yellow eyes.
Screaming, Laviania launched herself up to a sitting position. Beads of sweat dripped down her forehead, the salt sinking into her skin. Panting, she looked left to right- expecting to see the typical alley way- only to be left with a grey dull cell. On the ceiling there was a single hanging light that buzzed with only a tiny bit of energy left.
Shaking, the dream on top of the change of scenery made her senses heighten and panic increase. Anxiety attacks had stopped happening to her a month ago but she could feel one coming.
Soon the room stopped spinning, a warm feeling had spread over her. Sweet scents filled her nose, then she remembered what had happened before she blacked out. Her mate was in the building- even when he wasn’t in front of her he had some kind of effect!
“I bet you love your mate now Rae,” Lavi bitterly remarked, walking towards the front of the cell.
There was silence in her mind, Rae sighed,” I am sure he had his reasons. We aren’t all as we seem Lavi, you’re the person who should know that the most,”
Growling, Laviania shut off the communicate. Damn that mate bond, if it wasn’t for that she wouldn’t be in this mess! Rae’s views were just misguided but once she realised that Ajax would only hurt them, the wolf would soon change her mind.
“You’re awake,” A masculine voice exclaimed happily, she turned on her heels to face them.
A towering tan skinned man stood outside the cell, his eyes were a warm brown and his lips formed into a gleaming smile. There was a strange power to his aura that Laviania couldn’t place, he had to be of high rank.
Lavi looked him up and down before walking closer,” Yeah I am. Now open up and let me out,”
He laughed.
“We both know I can’t do that,” His eyes sparkled, she groaned and glared at the ground” My name is Rocco, the beta of this pack. I know who you are Laviania,”
Sadly, he was too friendly for her to attack. The fact he was the beta didn’t help that either but she wouldn’t be hostile to someone who may be an ally. At least with the beta on her side she could convince him to make that crazy guy let her go.
A crazy idea sparked in her mind, it would hurt and probably not work but she was running out of options at this point.
Rocco looked back up at her,” So tell me something about- what are you doing!?”
Laviania ran straight into the bars, they shook but didn’t fall. She felt lightheaded but backed up. Despite feeling like a loon, Lavi repeated the action- some dust fell onto her hair but the cell didn’t break.
‘Stop!” Rocco shouted, but she didn’t listen.
It could have been five minutes, twenty or even an hour but she kept repeating the action. Every time she did it the room around her faded slightly. There was no longer pain, there hadn’t been- her body had given up entirely at this point.
“Stop!” Rocco’s voice had been droning on and on but she had blocked it,”
“Stop!”
“Stop!”
“Stop!”
The last one made her muscles freeze in place. It was the voice of an alpha, a strong alpha. Shaking, Laviania leaned against the cell bars and let out a breath of air she didn’t realise she had been holding.
That’s when she felt his prescence, her mate.
Ajax looked his little mate up and down in shock and awe. Sure he was in pain that she kept hurting herself but part of him felt pride that she had so much determination. Opening the cell, he entered, closing it behind them- entrapping them both inside.
“Stay there,” Laviania ordered, her voice weak but there was still power there,” I don’t trust you,”
Ajax’s wolf, Elijah, whined internally. Many questions raged through their shared mind. Why was she so scared of them? Why doesn’t she want to bundle into his arms? Why is his mate so frightened? Does she not feel the pull?
Rae whined internally. Sure what Laviania was saying was true, there was no trust between the human and anyone really. Apart from Collette, but even she didn’t know the real truth of what happened to Lavi. Rae was more struggling with the pull that made saying these things to Ajax incredibly hard.
“I can’t breathe in here,” She hissed lowly, she wanted to be honest.
Ajax smirked,” The only other choice is my room love,”
Laviania gulped.
