The dragon within

   "Hey Ma! Have you seen my shoes!?!" I yell down the hallway. I always put them in the same place but my little sister is five and like any woman she's obsessed with shoes. I'm huffing just a little as I pull one shoe from Kayla's toy box. This darn girl is going to be the death of me! I'm finally moving up in the rank of an omega and I'm going to be late on my first day! "Ah there you are!" I say in relief as I'm pulling the other shoe out of the bottom drawer of her dresser. I stand on one foot hoping around trying to get my right  one on when I hear the little pitter patter of feet. Before I can get my foot back on the ground I'm being tackled by a little demon child. 

   "I was wearing those! "She says with plenty of sass.

   "Oh I know love but I need to borrow them." I say

   She thinks about this and says "ok but only if you bring me back a flower."

   "I think I can do that" I say while kissing her on her head. "Ok now I have to go or I'm going to be late you little monster!" I begin tickling her and she squeals with joy. I start making my way to the kitchen where my mother is. She's at the stove making some oatmeal while a few strands of hair fall down the sides of her face. Since my father and middle sister died 3 years ago I've seen her aging much faster than before. She's gained a few wrinkles and her hair is starting to gray but she is still one of the prettiest ladies I know. She looks at me with a small smile and the same longing in her eyes as the day they died. I know every day is a struggle for her that's why I stepped up and became the man of the house. 

   "Morning Ma." I say as I'm trying to get a hug. She hugs me back saying "good morning my boy are you excited to start your first day?"

   "It's just cleaning the dungeons but it pays double of what I've been making."

   "Promise me something will you?" She asks and I become curious as to what that is so I raise an eyebrow in response. She never asks me to promise something unless somethings weighing on her mind. "Don't let their mind set take over your way of thinking keep an open mind." She continues. I roll my eyes "mom anyone who is in the dungeons are in there for a reason."

   "Yes but it's not all the time for the wrong reasons they are in there!" She says raising her voice. I look at her in shock because she's never yelled at me but I agree to listen to her because this is really bothering her. There is obviously something that she knows that she's not telling me.  I sigh in defeat "ok ma I promise to keep an open mind" I kiss her cheek goodbye and the smile slowly reappears and she tossed an apple at me.  

   "Have a good day" she says as I'm walking out the door. I don't have a car and I live on the outskirts of town but I don't mind that I like this time to clear my mind but today I'm going to have to run if I'm making it in time to the cells so I let Lex out. He's my wolf a little on the small side and a little scruffy but that's what to expect with an omega however my human form is above average. Lex being white on the other hand is not something an average wolf has but I'm not one to brag. I'm about six foot four inches in height, brown hair and green eyes. I have a scar from the bottom of my ear to the bottom of my neck from trying to protect my sisters three years ago. My wolf wasn't able to come out yet he was actually two weeks late. I don't blame him though. I get to the cells with five minutes to spare so I can change back into my clothes. I hide behind a tree and slip everything on then run a hand down trying to get rid of any wrinkles. 

   It's honestly a beautiful day today. The sun is shining, the grass is green and the birds are singing. I make it up to the guard at the door. Hello Leon West reporting for duty. The guard looks down on me which I don't mind they've been doing that for a while no use getting upset.  I just give him a small smile hoping the gesture would make things a little less awkward. He then radios someone. Another minute or so and there comes Gage and Stephen. By no means are they Alphas I mean they can be intimidating but they aren't alpha material. They're only out for number one and an alpha considers everyone's well being. Either way though I'm just here to serve. 

   "Hello gentlemen" I say

   "Hello Leon I'm assuming you are here to clean the dungeons?" Says Gage "I really only care about one thing here. You do not open the doors under any circumstances understood? "

   "Yes sir" I say. 

   "If I can trust you here maybe we can move you up in the world but one step at a time." Says Gage. "There is a janitor closet towards the end of the hall where you'll find all the stuff you need. No one else is too come down here but us unless I radio you. You have your own channel in case you have any problems and anything you see or hear down here starts between us understood? " 

   I nod letting them know I heard them loud and clear.  "Good now I have some matters to attend to so I'll leave you to it." Gage turns and walks out but Stephen stays back a moment longer.

    "Be careful of the one at the end of the hall you don't want to get caught up in that." he says and follows after Gage. I then open the door and the smell of rot hits me immediately. I want to gag but the farther in I go the more I can smell this amazing smell of jasmine and honey. Lex is jumping around yelling mate. I try to be quiet because I hear whispering and I want to see if I can hear what they're talking about. 

   "Scarlett what are you doing? You're going to get in trouble" I hear the most beautiful voice say

   "I got something for you" I peek around the corner. there standing at the window is a woman with dark blond hair that reaches to the bottom part of he back. she has a medium complexion with beautiful sea foam green eyes. she's not small but she has the perfect build. I see a little girl hand a dandelion through the bars. 

   "Oh thank you but you remember what happened last time. Go home I couldn't bare watching you get hurt again" says the woman. 

   "Ok I'll come see you again when it's safe" say the little girl. 

   "Until we meet again" says the woman with a big smile. As soon as the little girl leaves I notice her smile slowly fade and a look of stone appear on her face. She has the most angelic face. My eyes then begin to wonder and I realize she has no clothes on... that's odd I say to myself. 

   She doesn't move but I hear her speak. You shouldn't be here" she says still starting through the bars. 

   "And why not? " I ask as she startled me I stumble over myself... yes I am clumsy. 

   She just turns to stare at me with this empty look in her eyes and slowly walks over to the bed in the cell sits on the side and says "because no one's mate should have to see what you're about to see." She proceeds to lay down and no sooner than she lays down her head I hear the main door to the dungeons close and I hear Gage and Stephen laughing like a couple of school kids.  My stomach turns and my blood runs cold just the thought of what she could mean. I feel gages hand fall upon my shoulder. 

   "Ah she's a beauty isn't she?  She's my prize. You did good today boy same time tomorrow." I know he dismissed me but I couldn't move I had to know what was being done. They opened the cell door and shut it behind them clipping the keys to Stephen's belt. I then watched Gage climb on top of her while Stephen started sucking on one of her breast. Gage tried to kiss her but when she didn't kiss him back he slapped her across the face and she was now facing me with dead eyes as a lone tear slides down her cheek. I couldn't stay any longer I ran all the way home with her dead eyes boring into my soul. How could they do that to her!?!
