" While everyone was getting ready to dig into all the wonderful things on the table the wind blew through the open window and I could had sworn it felt like someone touched my cheek. I turned around and the back ground noise fade out as I saw a woman dressed in all white. I turned and looked at everyone but it seemed none else was paying attention. When I turned my attention back she had a soft smile on her lips which was a little on the thin side. She had long white hair that came down to her waist. She wore a white dress that looked more like a robe with a crown twined and made out of a green bone with little white flowers and powder blue eyes. Her skin was ghostly white but it didn't look bad. It actually suited her.
"You may call me Selena... or you can call me moon Goddess" she says with some amusement in her voice. I rub my eyes trying to wake up from this dream and she giggled a little. "No you're not dreaming and no the others can't see me. This visit was meant for you child."
"I don't understand why me? I did nothing worthy of your presence." I said with my head bowed.
"Ahhh that's where you are wrong my dear. She reaches down and touches the side of my face lifting my eyes to hers. She looks at me with a smile on her face like a mother looks at her child. "You are one of my favorite creations... so humble and loyal almost to a fault... notice I say almost."
"So why have you gifted me with your presence?" I ask in confusion.
She sighs and puts her hand and to her face and pinches her nose between her index finger and thumb "I wish this would be over for you both but it's not." I feel a wave of panic wash over me.
"You're the moon Goddess though you can just change it right?" I ask in an accusing tone.
"Unfortunately I can't my dear. I gave everyone the power of free will and after they leave here I can't do anything but I can warn you about it so you have a chance to change the out come" I nod my head in understanding.
"So can you tell me details or how does it work?" I ask and I can't help but be frustrated. I know she can hear it but I can't seem to get it under control. I have my back to her but she puts her hands on my arm and gently turns me around.
"I understand you are frustrated but know that Joslin beat the odds and will turn things around. However if she would had given in things would not had been so happy for you." She says trying to help me understand.
"I just don't understand why you can't put them down if they hurt someone." This question made her think and I thought maybe I won but then she asks me something. "Ok say that Joslin and Gage were your children and they both had trying times. But you knew with the right circumstances both of them can turn out to be good people... would you still kill him?" I thought about this for awhile and understood where she was coming from. I dropped the subject and let her finish what she had to say. "It will be after the birth of your child just know that you will need some unlikely help." She says
After she says this I realize we have been talking at least the last 30 minutes. "Oh my goodness I've got to get back I'm sure everyone is wondering where I am. She just lightly laughs and says no need to worry my child my time is decent from yours"
I'm confused until the noise started back around me and I hear "Dear moon Goddess we are gathered here this evening" Joslin is praying again she put me right back where I left off "and I swear we will try to do your will at all times. Amen" everyone joined the prayer with their amens too. Joslin looks up at me and smiles a genuine smile and I give her one back. We're watching each other the whole time we're making our plate lost in each other's gaze until our hands meet in the middle grabbing for a piece of garlic bread. We both look away I look back and grab two pieces putting one on her plate and one on mine.
"How about you two love birds come back down to earth and join a conversation." Otis says making us slam back down to reality. I watched as her face turned red from getting caught. Everyone laughed even Kayla even if she didn't know what she was laughing at. We sat around the table eating till we were full which was the first time in a very long time and just conversated for the next hour. When the clock struck eleven o'clock Otis took his leave and everyone else was getting ready for bed them selves. Poor Kayla was passed out on the couch so I went to pick her up to put her to bed. I seen Joslin watching me with a serene smile on her face.
"You'll make a wonderful father" she says pushing herself off the doorway with her arms crossed coming closer and placed a kiss on my cheek. I smiled as she turned as led the way upstairs. She opened the door to Kaylas room so I could lay her down on her bed.
"Big brother?" Kayla groggily said rubbing her eyes.
"Shhhhh go back to sleep" I cooed bruising the hair of her forehead. With those words she curled up in a ball pulling the covers over her face. I turned back to my mate who was still smiling at me. As I came closer she stood boldly in the doorway not making a movement to move. She pecked my lips and I picked her up bridal style to carry her to our bedroom. She puts her arms around my neck and I kiss her again but with a little more feeling. As I'm walking in to my room my shoulder gets caught on the door frame and I almost dropped her. She laughed as she tightened the hold around my neck and I growled a little and turned sideways to get through the door.
"This is almost to small for you huh? She asks still giggling. Then the best idea pops into my head and I begin to tickle her.
"You want something to laugh about? I can give you something to laugh about!" I say as she now red faced because she was laughing so hard. We hear a thump thump thump coming from downstairs and mom yells up "it's bed time you two are going to have a long day a head of you tomorrow" I growl just a little. I didn't think she could even hear me until I heard her yell back up the stairs. "Leon West! Don't you growl at your mother!"
"I feel my cheeks turn red and hear Joslin laughing again. "Sorry Ma" I yell down.
"I think that's adorable how you answer to your mom." Joslin says. She's laying on her side and I lay on mine pulling her into me and I cover her and half of myself so atleast she can stay warm. She grabs my arm putting my hand under her head for her own personal pillow. It probably looks so awkward with us tucked together on this bed but something about it feels right and we drifted off to sleep.
