“I think you should leave now…” I forced the words out of my lips as he kept staring at me dangerously, like a predator watching trapped prey.
He paused and briefly glanced down at himself before turning toward the door.
His hand rested on the handle as he stopped midway.
“I would be taking you out tonight. Dress in something good and catchy, pet. I just want you to feel the gentle breeze.”
“I don’t wish to go anywhere with—”
“You don’t have a choice, pet. Just do as I said.”
Kyle spoke calmly before walking out instantly.
I scoffed.
What exactly does he think he is?
My gaze drifted around the room as I walked toward the tiny wardrobe standing beside the large mirror.
My fingers brushed against rough papers before sliding into something sealed.
I immediately glanced at the door and rushed over to lock it from inside.
Quickly, I tore open the wrapping.
Photographs.
The first picture was of Kyle standing beside a woman in a wedding dress.
“I guess that’s his wife…” I muttered aloud while staring at it for a moment before sliding to the next photo.
Another wedding picture but with someone completely different.
My heart sank instantly.
I looked back at the first woman, then the second.
Entirely different faces.
And far younger than him.
If I wasn’t mistaken, these women were around my age… maybe slightly older.
My chest tightened as I reached for another picture.
Different woman yet another.
Different again.
I quickly spread all six photographs across the floor.
Every single one was a different person.
All young.
My heartbeat pounded violently as I turned one of the photos over.
2020.
Another.
2022.
2022 again.
My breath caught.
“He married two people the same year…?”
I pulled my face toward the door immediately, my chest pounding beneath my ribs.
The others were dated 2023… and one from 2024.
None this year.
And this was only January.
A dry, wicked laugh escaped my lips as dread crawled slowly through me.
Who exactly is Uncle Kyle… and what does he want from me?
That question kept repeating inside my head as I carefully gathered the photos and slid them back into the drawer.
I shut it slowly, my hands trembling faintly.
Then I walked back toward the bed.
The heaviness in my chest only grew stronger as dizziness and exhaustion slowly pulled me down onto the mattress.
A soft knock sounded on the door.
My eyes fluttered open.
The room had already grown dark.
“Pet, dress up. It’s time for the party I told you about.”
Kyle’s voice came from outside, instantly stirring the anger inside me again.
I walked toward the wardrobe and picked out a carton-colored jumper with a long skirt, slipping them on without bothering with my hair before heading toward the door.
Outside, Kyle stood perfectly dressed, looking as though nothing bad had ever happened in his world.
His gaze landed on me, and his expression darkened immediately.
“What are you wearing, pet?”
“I remember getting clothes for you.”
“I want to be like this.”
“No.”
He cut me off sharply before walking into the room and returning with a short red gown.
He threw it toward me.
“Wear this and come out.”
I stared at the dress, then slowly lifted my eyes back to him.
My expression tightened instantly.
“So now you control my life and what I wear too?”
“Pet, don’t ruin this evening. Just go dress up.”
“I’ll be waiting. And do it now.”
I stared at the demon in front of me for a long moment before turning back into the room.
The dress was terribly short.
One wrong bend and almost everything would be exposed.
I stepped out of the room wearing it anyway.
Kyle slowly turned toward me.
His eyes darkened as they traveled from my face… down to my thighs.
His jaw tightened faintly before a slow smile formed on his lips.
“That’s my pet.”
He stepped closer.
“This is what I want, pet. Obedience… not complaints.”
“Come on.”
He stretched his hand toward me, but I ignored it completely and walked past him.
He forced another smile and followed behind me, gesturing for Fred, who had been waiting quietly.
We drove off shortly after.
The car stopped at a crowded beach filled with people dancing, drinking, laughing, and moving beneath the bright lights.
I stepped out quietly as Kyle grabbed my hand firmly this time, leading me toward the bar.
“I need…”
I paused briefly.
“I need tranquilizer.”
Kyle turned sharply toward me, surprise flashing across his face.
“Can your head even carry that, pet?”
I didn’t answer.
The waiter arrived with the bottle, and I immediately snatched it from him, pressing it against my lips.
I drank nearly half.
Almost instantly, my head began pounding violently.
Kyle watched me carefully, his dark eyes fixed on me like a hunter studying prey, but I refused to look at him.
The entire place began spinning.
I stood up suddenly, but the dizziness forced me backward.
Kyle caught me immediately before I could fall.
“I need to use the bathroom,” I muttered weakly.
“Come on, pet. I’ll lead you.”
I stayed silent as he guided me toward the hallway.
But the moment we stepped inside the bathroom—
His hand suddenly tightened around my waist.
Without warning, he pushed me fully inside.
I gasped, instantly staring into his dangerously darkened eyes…
