Incoming Call: Cole
My phone buzzed against my palm, the screen’s cold blue light glowing over the dark library staircase.
My thumb hovered over the red button. Every instinct in my body screamed at me to decline the call, to slide the phone back into my pocket and pretend I had never seen it.
But I knew Cole. If I ignored him, his concern would instantly turn into suspicion. He had my location tracked on the family home app. If I stayed silent while sitting on a concrete bench outside the campus library at ten o'clock at night, he would be here in ten minutes.
And right now, the thought of him finding me here, after what I had just overheard in the locker room, made my throat tighten with panic.
