"Looking for a hideout?" A low, gravelly voice cut through the quiet room. I flinched, my heart leaping into my throat. I spun around, my hand flying to my chest as my eyes searched the shadows near the back of the classroom. Sitting on the edge of a high wooden desk by the window with his long legs crossed, was Ryder. He had removed his dark suit jacket, drape-folding it over the chair beside him. His white shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, exposing his forearms, the moonlight highlighting the sharp, handsome contours of his face. He held a bottle of water in one hand, looking effortlessly relaxed. "Ryder!" I gasped, my breath catching. "Oh... I'm so sorry. I had no idea anyone was in here. I'll just leave." I turned, reaching for the brass door handle to excuse myself.
