I pedaled so fast my lungs burned. The cool night air whipped against my face, but I couldn't stop a triumphant little smile from breaking through my anxiety. I did it… I actually did it. My fingers kept brushing against the hard plastic of the ID card safely tucked into my hoodie pocket. I had faced down Ryder Maddox in his own territory and walked out with my property.
