The Waterfall’s Edge

Success (Drake’s POV)

Staying hidden had been more difficult than anticipated with the crowds. But my men have been quietly hiding waiting for the signal. Once night fell it wouldn’t be much longer.

I watched from the sidelines as the party started. The time had come. I stepped out into the woods. I was a bit surprised to see the little betrayer here. But considering how she was staring at me in surprise, I went ahead with my plans yelling “NOW!!!”

My men swarmed out of their hiding places and the fight was on.

Her jaw dropped when she realized what was happening. She tried to defend herself.

“I only promise d not to kill you, betrayer.” I said as I landed a blow that knocked her back. Her pathetic attempts were no match for my skills. She was unconscious and I moved on looking for the Alpha’s heir.

I found him just as a girl was falling off the edge of the cliff. She didn’t concern me as she would probably be dead by the time she hit the water. A blurred streak rushed beside me jumping in after her.

However, my attention was all the heir. He got into a fighting stance. I was ready for him. I even let him have the first shot to make it more sporting.

His training fell fall short against my experience. However, my intent was not to kill him. It was to use his busted body as leverage for a fight for the Alpha spot. This was just a warm-up fight.

Throwing his unconscious body over my shoulder, I gathered the boys as witnesses and marched down the hill calling for the Alpha.

I could see the fury on his face. It was good he was so angry. I would use that lack of control to my advantage.

The fighting had stopped as everyone gathered around to see the fight. I threw the body down ready to get started.

We were circling each other in a pre-blow assessment while everyone was waiting to see who would strike the first blow. The only way I would voluntarily leave this fight was in a gurney.

He took the first step to challenge me. His hot head got the best of him as I threw a punch that connected.

He staggered backward reassessing my strength and skills. I saw him gather himself for another attack.
