Staring Down Saras’s POV

444 Words
I stood there for a moment taking in the sight of the waterfall endless cascading down the mountain. The water pooled underneath providing a nearly clear view of its freezing depths. An unseen current ran through pushing the water over a smaller edge before the water rushed away.. It was my favorite spot to stare and think. Sometimes, I just imagined that the water would carry all my troubles far away. But that never happened. The tears ran down my face as I stared into the cool depths. The pain in my heart still fresh from the heartache and the death of a fantasy. Grandma was right when she said, “Boys are stupid. All their blood flows down to their thing instead of up to their brain.” All these of these tears were over Tony. He was the epitome of every girl’s dream. With that touchable brown hair and those deep blue eyes lay the promise of forever. Then when he spoke the words that made those promises, I thought my fate was sealed. We would live in a fairytale with the happily ever after. While it might have been a dream, it had all the potential of becoming reality on those promises. That was until today. Everything changed when I learned it was all a lie. I don’t think they were aware I was in the vicinity when I overheard Tony and Leslie talking. I only started really listening when Leslie said my name. Getting as close as possible, I heard it all. The plan to humiliate me in front of the entire school right before our graduation. Leslie was laughing at how I would react to the news when Tony would publicly dump me after leading me on our Senior year. I was flattered when he asked me out. It was like a dream come true. I had a crush on him like most girls did the instant I saw him on campus. Before this year, I hadn’t even talked to him. I never really had the courage. As shy as I was, it was hard to gather the courage to actually talk to him. So, I worshipped him from afar. At least, I found out before the entire school did about all of the lies he used to string me along. I don’t know what I would have done if they actually succeeded. As I stared into the falls, a plan began to form. After all, the future leader of our clan should have to pay a price for his deception. Leslie would also have to pay. She needed to learn that playing with people’s lives Carrie’s a cost.
