Chapter 7

When I woke up again, it was dark in the room. I could still feel Rose next me in the same position that I thought she would be in from when I fell asleep. So I must not have been out for too long.  I tried to move my right arm that she wasn’t grabbing on to. With a rush of joy I found that I could still move my limbs.  I reach my hand out to stroke her hair in reassurance. My finger tips glide smoothly through her long raven black hair. She startles awake when she feels my fingers. When she looks up at me I can see that her eyes are red rimmed from crying so much.  She stares at me in disbelief. Like she's not sure if she's dreaming or not.  “Is this a dream?” She asks almost as if she can read my thoughts.  Before I can lose my courage, I say in a low barely there whisper. “I’ll let you decide that after this” She looks at me in puzzlement but before she can say anything I tenderly press my lips to hers in a soft kiss. It wasn’t exactly like the movies or the books were they say that they see fireworks but something inside me did click into place. It was like nothing I had ever felt when I went on an endless rampage to find the person that was right for me. Nothing and not one had ever made me feel like this before. It filled me with a sense of courage and happiness and strangely enough power.  In my slightly brazen state I feel my hands of their own accord reach up to cup her face. I don't feel her kissing me back, so I pull away for a split second to see if she wants to continue. Her eyes are alight with an emotion that I can't define. I do see some hesitation in her eyes though. “Do you not want to kiss me back? I’m sorry if that was too forward of me...” “You’re still my Kitkat. I can’t even begin to explain how much I have wanted to do that or how long I have yearned to kiss you.” I feel butterflies when she says that I’m hers. It just feels so right to hear that coming out of her mouth. Her hands travel up my arms leaving goosebumps in the process. Trailing all the way up to my neck before resting on either side of my face. I feel her thumb brushing across my cheek , and I tilt my head towards her. She sees the invitation and takes it. At first her kiss was soft and sweet. The type of kiss that makes me melt into her hands. Slowly it changes though. It becomes more hungry and insistent.  I part my lips just slightly and I let her explore my mouth with her tongue.  I have never felt like this when I was with other people. I was chasing this exact feeling with everybody else that I was with. I never got it because nobody else was Rose. She held me tenderly. Almost like she was afraid that I was going to vanish. I break the kiss with her to kiss her neck. As I work my way down her throat I can hear her let a soft moan escape her lips.  “I should know that I have to be careful with you.” she states as she eases me back on to the bed into an admittedly less painful position.  “You were being perfectly careful with me.” I retort back. “It’s to my fault that you're so kissable.”  “Not it’s not but still you're healing and I need to be careful.” She said while straightening her shirt and her hair.  “So what's the thing that you had to tell me?” I say with a coy smile on my face? What’s so important that you have to tell me” I could see her eyes go wide when I mentioned this. “You actually heard that?” “Every word.'' I turned my head so that I could see her and look at her expectantly.  She starts to fidget in her seat.  “Come on Rose. I know that it’s important because I could hear you crying. So what’s so important?” “You see KitKat, the thing that I wanted to tell is-” She looks up to the door as it opens. Anton steps into the door and I could see that his eyes light up. It was almost like a relief to see me awake.  “Oh my god you're awake!” He practically runs over and starts to check me over.  I look between Anton and Rose with a gaze of confusion. Rose looks once at me then over at Anton. I can see the fire in her eyes start to build as he starts to poke and prode at me.  I wince when he touches my arms and my thigh that got shot. I felt that he was using too much pressure for just a quick once over to make sure that  I am okay.  Rose is watching his every move like a hawk and when she sees me starting to wince at his touch she forcefully grabs his hands and says "You do not need to be so rough with her. She was only out for 6 days. Clearly she is fine." I stare at her is disbelief. I was out for 6 days?! How did so much time go by without me knowing about it? It didn't make any sense.  She must have sensed my confusion becasue she hurried to tell me  "You got shot three times. Once in the leg once in the arm and once in the stomach. We had to rush you into surgery so that we could stop the bleeding and closee the wounds. Once that was settled we were just waiting for you to heal. The doctor also said that the longer you didn't wake up the less likely that you would make it" I could see tears welling in her eyes as she said the last part. I wanted to reach out to touch her arm to reassure her that I am indeed fine and alive.  That's when I noticed that Anton was striding over to the other side of the room and went to the door.  He must be leaving to let me rest and recover.  I think to  myself. And I would have preferred that too if I was being honest. Rose and I had a lot to talk about since I am awake and I would much rather have this particular conversation without an audience.  To my shock though, he just walks over to the door and locks it.  I shift my gaze to Rose and she looks back at me then to Anton.  " Why the hell are you locking us in here with you?" She says with a bite in her voice. "Well now that she is awake we all need to have a discussion and I can't have people walking in while we talk." He stands in front of the door and crosses his big arms over his chest. "And what conversation would that be? And why is it so important that you can't have anybody coming in on it?" I stare at him in disbelief. It was just then that it really hit me. Anton can be downright scary when he wants to be.  He looks at me then to Rose. "This was not by chance. This was a set up and I have reason to believe that it was set up from somebody on the inside."
