Tera's pov
It was like a dream. My whole life was finally coming together. It was as if I just had another chance at life.
I nodded again, this time with a little more certainty.
Maybe… just maybe… things could be okay. Maybe I didn’t have to run anymore or hide. Maybe I could find some peace here.
Mia moved toward the bed, fluffing the pillows and straightening the covers.
"Why don’t you get some rest? You’ve had a long day, and you need to take care of yourself. The baby needs you to be strong."
Her words hit me harder than I expected. The baby. My child.
My hand moved over to hold my belly as a smile reached my face. A fresh wave of determination surged through me.
"I will," I said, my voice a little stronger this time. "I’ll do whatever it takes to keep the baby safe."
