Chapter 3 “Come on Mc’Run. You’re going to make us late.” Usually, I’m not the one to rush to the cafeteria, but its Thanksgiving, one of the few days out the year when the food is somewhat good. I can taste the ham-hocks now. With cornbread, white rice, and mustard greens, man I’m about to dig in for real. “Cam, I don’t know what you’re rushing for. We still have to wait ‘til roll call.” “Yeah, yeah.” In about five minutes, roll call began. Adjusting to prison life isn’t an easy thing, but it’s doable. I’m just glad that the Lord saw fit to give me a roommate like Mc’Run. Being of age, he became the father that I never had.
