Avery's POV
I sat outside the bakery gathering all my strength to go inside. Conrad didn't want me coming into work today, but he wasn't about to tell me what to do. I had a business to run, and I had to find someone new to come and do our expansion. I had to put the f*****g creep out of my head and move on with life. I couldn't let anyone know that I was scared to death of him coming back. I don't understand why I felt so brave in the moment, but now it was like a suffocating feeling.
I walked inside the bakery ten minutes late and Joe was there greeting me with a smile.
