Conrad's POV
I suffered through sitting there talking with her brother and his wife. I didn't like the man; he was a snake. I know she was trying to salvage a relationship with him, but I could see through his bullshit, and I'm sure that it would all come out soon enough. By the time I got her up to the room she was exhausted, and she crashed right away. I grabbed my laptop and pulled up my work email and I sat there playing with her hair as she slept and I worked.
After several hours of work, my eyes were burning, and her little snores were lulling me to sleep. I closed my laptop and placed it on the table and scooted down the bed. Avery moved quickly to rest her head on my shoulder and sighed like she was finally comfortable.
