Avery's POV
I was sweaty and drunk, and I had been dancing my ass off trying to get Conrad to come down here with me, but he was content with just watching, but then he turned his attention to some guy that had come over and started talking to him. If he was going to ignore me and talk with someone else and not come dance with me, I would find someone to dance with and make him come down here, because if his jealous side is as bad as I think it is, this will work.
I danced my way through the crowd looking for the right guy and keeping my eye on Conrad, and he had his back to me. Someone grabbed my arm, spinning me around to face them, and I was staring back at a guy who was good-looking but didn't compare to Conrad, but he would be enough to piss him off.
"Dance with me beautiful," he yelled in my ear, and I just stepped up closer to him, pushing our bodies flush. His hands wrapped around my waist and I flung my body back and then back up again and then slid down the front of his body and on my way up I made sure to put my t**s against his body. When I stood up, he spun me around and pulled me completely flush against him and wrapped his arm around my waist and our bodies started moving in sync together.
He was suddenly jerked away from me and replaced by another body. I smiled, knowing my plan worked. I could tell instantly it was Conrad, but he shocked me when I felt his hands run up my arm and into my hair and jerked my head back and to the side. I felt his lips on my neck. I let out a soft moan as our bodies started moving together as if they were one. It was like I knew exactly what his next move was going to be.
"What the f**k was that little stunt?" he whispered in my ear, and the feel of his breath on my sweaty skin sent goosebumps over my entire body.
"You wouldn't dance with me," I said, and he tightened his grip on my hair and placed his other arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I could feel how hard he was, and I pushed my ass into him even further. I heard him groan and I giggled.
"I think you are pushing my f*****g buttons to the point I might snap and f*****g kill someone." he growled in my ear and god there was something about the possessiveness that just turned me on. "We're f*****g leaving," he whispered and let go of me grabbing my hand and pulled me to the bar. He closed out his tab and the second we were outside I stumbled over my heel and about went down. The shots might have something to do with an inability to stay upright. He grabbed my arm, steadied me and, before I even knew what was happening, he had picked me up and flung me over his shoulder and stomped towards the car.
"Let me down," I yelled.
"No. You're going to fall and hurt yourself."
"I'm not a toddler," I yelled and hit his back.
"Knocked it off."
"Then put me down."
I felt the sting of his hand land on my ass. "Ouch," I said, and brought my hand up to rub my butt cheek.
He didn't put me down until we were at his car and the passenger door was open. "Get in," he growled. He really wasn't happy with me about that stunt, but I really didn't care. I slid into the seat, and he slammed the door closed. I kicked my shoes off and leaned my head back.
He got in and slammed the driver's door as well. "Geesh, you don't have to be so angry."
"You don't have to be such a damn tease," he grumbled.
"I'm not a tease," I said, and he just laughed, this deep, rich laugh that I loved hearing.
I rested my head back on the headrest and closed my eyes while he drove me home.
I woke up the next morning with a pounding in my head and no memory of getting into bed. The last thing I remember is him packing me out of the club. I ripped the blankets off of me and saw I had on a t-shirt and my panties still on. God, I must have blacked out, and he carried me inside and put me to bed. That was not what I wanted to happen. I reached over and grabbed my phone and had a text from him.
"Good morning beautiful,
I hope that you had a good sleep. I slept on your couch but had something to do. I will be back at your place tonight at six," his text read, and I don't know what he plans on doing tonight, but I needed to figure that out, so I hit send on his number and laid back down.
"Hello," he answered, and sounded wide awake and so damn sexy. I wish I would have heard him when he woke up. There was something about a man's voice first thing in the morning.
"Hey, why are you coming back over tonight? If you think that I'm cooking dinner for you, you have something else coming for you," I said, and he started laughing loudly.
"No, I don't expect you to cook me dinner, although if you did, I wouldn't turn it down."
"You still didn't tell me why you were coming back over."
"Because you need cameras up and I am going to come put some up."
"It's fine. I don't need those. This neighborhood is safe."
"Ya and because Barrette and Everette had cameras up at their places, we were able to realize quickly with proof who attacked Ashlynn so yes, you need cameras."
"Whatever and I'm still not cooking dinner."
"OK, look, I have to go. I will see you at six," he said, and hung up.
So much was happening so fast with him and I had to talk to someone about it and right now there was only one person I could take that to, because Ashlynn would kill me, and I was not ready for her to know. I quickly got dressed in leggings and crop top and pulled my hair up in a messy bun and washed the pound of make-up off my face and popped a few painkillers and then went and chugged a gallon of water or what felt like a gallon, and grabbed my keys and ran out of the house.
I didn't even bother to call her. I knew she would be home. She was always home on Sundays. I pulled into the apartment complex garage and got out, leaving my giant sunglasses on and went and pounded on her door. Her husband opened it up and just laughed.
"Hungover?"
"Yes."
"She is in the living room eating her tenth pancake of the morning."
I walked past him and went straight to the living room and, sure enough, she had a giant plate of pancakes sitting in her lap and the bottle of syrup on the table. I watched as she put a pile of syrup on the plate, and then she dipped her bite of pancake in it, and it was running off the pancake that she had so much.
"Is that good?" I asked and she jumped.
"God, don't scare me like that and, yes, it's the best damn thing I've ever eaten. I can't get enough of it."
"Why don't you just drink the syrup out of the bottle and pop a bite in your mouth, you would get more that way."
"Don't tempt me. What's up?" she asked, going back to her food.
"I need to talk to you and I need no judgement," I said, and that got her attention. I had managed to hide my craziness from them for the most part, but when I had my thing with Max and Ashlynn was gone, Adara got me through it. She knew what I did. She is the one who called me a crazy physco b***h and I couldn't deny her that. I know this about myself, but it's who I truly am when it comes to my love life.
"Oh god, what did you do?"
"I ended up on a date with Conrad last night." That really got her attention and she actually put her food down.
"OK, wait, hold up, I thought you wouldn't go on a date with him because of Max. That's what we decided would be the best."
"It was, but then he talked to him, and you know how much I've liked him. I would say I've practiced great self-control over the past six plus months and turned him down."
"What do you mean he talked to him?"
"Max called me and said that Conrad had come to see him and asked if he could take me out. Conrad sent me a text telling me he was going to pick me up at seven on Saturday for a date." I told her and kind of trailed off.
"What did you do?" she asked, looking at me, knowing that I had done something.
"I set him up. I found a guy on an online dating site to take me out on Saturday and had him pick me up at seven on Saturday."
"OH MY GOD," she yelled, and I just laughed.
"I need more. You can't stop there. What did he do?"
"Threatened to kick his ass and the guy didn't back down until Conrad brought something up about his past and said he knew about the skeletons in his closet, so the guy left."
"Girl, you are playing with fire, and you are going to get burned."
"He was stalking me. I knew he was watching me go on other dates that I had. He deserved it."
"I'm talking about having guys from a dating app pick you up at your house. That's dangerous."
"It's fine. I knew that Conrad was going to show up. He even threatened to come over and teach me some manners halfway through the week when I hadn't answered him. I had hoped he would come over, and I would teach him a thing or two, but it was an empty threat."
"You have to reel it in just a bit. You can't do the same thing to him that you did to Max."
"Max was going to cheat, and I couldn't have that."
"He was studying with a girl from his class."
"How do you think that s**t starts? Besides, we never stood a chance. He lives across the country and wouldn't move here for me."
"Because he's in school. You did that one to yourself. Just be careful with Conrad. He's always been different from the other brothers. He has this edge about him."
"How would you know? You haven't spent any time with him."
"No, I haven't but look at him. He is walking bad boy appeal. He may not be the bad boy, but I don't want you to get your heart broken."
"Why do you think I think he is so f*****g hot? He oozes s*x and bad boy, but deep down he's a good guy."
"I know, and I love you, but you can be a bit crazy sometimes and he might not like it. You fall hard and fast, just be careful is all I'm saying, and I'm also saying you need to tell Ashlynn sooner rather than later."
"God, don't remind me. It's only been one date and I got drunk and blacked out, so I guess we'll see. Although he is coming over tonight."
"Don't sleep with him yet."
"He's putting security cameras up at my house. No s*x, mom."
