Laughter rang throughout the dinning room as we were having lunch at The Taylor's. Both families were here as always. Sunday lunches and dinners together were a constant between the Taylor and Moreno families. "I was shocked!" I heard Amy say in response to whatever the conversation was. I wasn't paying attention to any of it, my mind was elsewhere. I kept thinking and making up the stupidest of scenarios in my head and lost focus that is until Hudson nudged me and I looked up to the questioning eyes around the table. "I asked where Drew is." My mom said. "We broke up. " I answered with a shrug and placed my focus on the plate in front of me. "Oh, well good. I didn't like him anyway." She said and Lorraine, Hudson's mother agreed by saying "Too meek for my tastes." "Huh, I guess that explains my son's split lip then." said Tom and everyone laughed while I shook my head, no boyfriend or girlfriend stood a chance against this family, you break up with said boyfriend and the family moves on like he never existed, after trashing him/her of course. "Hopefully the other guy looks as bad as you do." Dad chuckled. "Well aren't you just a comedian today Leo." Hudson replied to dad his finger rubbing his lip unconsciously. "You know," Andre started, "You could just get together with Hudson and stop dating idiots." "Aww yes yes." Lorraine nodded her head in agreement, "What a perfect match." I snorted as she and my mom started talking about how perfect Hudson and I are together and the cutest babies we'd have. "What?" Hudson nudged me and whispered "You're not sold on being Mrs Hudson Taylor?" I turned to face him and smirked, "I'd rather sweep the country with my toothbrush." "I am a terribly wounded Kathleen" He said clutching his chest and I rolled my eyes then leaned over the table and grabbed his glass of lemonade and took a sip. "You're practically making out with me right now." I put the glass back on the table and wiped the back of my mouth with a disgusted look on my face, "You are so annoying." After lunch the women went out to the patio while the men went to the kitchen to do the dishes since it was their turn this week. The patio was a small area just outside the kitchen where there was a large green steel table with 6 matching chairs. It overlooked the beautiful large garden and swimming pool which was surrounded by a little fence that was used to keep us out as toddlers. With the years that had passed the Taylor's kept it well maintained and had even painted it green to match the garden furniture. "So... Hudson beat Drew up?" Liz asked amused while feeding Angela, I just rolled my eyes at her and continued playing peekaboo with my niece, effectively distracting her from eating as she giggled uncontrollably. "You know, I still hold out hope that you and Hudson will finally get together and I can finally get me some grand babies" Lorraine muttered. "Oh my gosh! Won't they just make the cutest couple." José said in a high pitched girly voice as he entered the sanctuary. "Get out José! This is a male free zone" Amy said throwing him with a baby wipe. "Relax Amy bear, I just came to get a glass of wine, you guys always seem to hog the good one." He proceeded to grab a glass from the table and pour himself some. "I think tha-" "No one cares." Amy said cutting him off, "Now leave." she pointed towards the door and he shrugged then went back into the house. "Okay..." I raised a brow, "What was that about?" "I agree with Lorraine" My mother said ignoring the interruption and cutting off Amy's reply to my question. "You already have a granddaughter Ma." Liz replied to which she just waved a hand in the air in a dismissive gesture. "I love baby Angela but one just isn't enough. I didn't have three children only for them to give me one grandchild." she said and everyone laughed. The conversation then shifted from Hudson and I to Amy's prom which was on Friday. "You're all going to die when you see that dress!" she exclaimed excitedly. "I only saw the shoes and I was already blown away." Lorraine said making hand gestures. "Well ladies, I'm going to take my beautiful wife and child home now." André uttered as he came onto the patio. The men followed behind him, crowding the patio area. Dad immediately went to mom's side and Tom did the same then his hand affectionately on Lorriane's shoulder and it warmed my heart. Even years after being married to one another these two couples were still so affectionate and caring with one another, it blew my mind and created a sense of longing within me, I wanted that for myself. "I think Kat and I are going to head out too." Hudson said snapping my out of my thoughts, he then handed me my purse. "You drive safely with my baby girl Hudson okay?" My dad said, knowing what a menace Hudson is on the roads. "Precious cargo Leo, I know. " Hudson nodded and I hugged everyone goodbye then told Amy that I'd see her on Friday. "Oh, don't forget that Saturday is Mrs Smith's 70th birthday party at the TayMo hotel and you have to be there." Lorraine reminded us. Mrs Smith has been Tom's assistant since the business was started years ago and a valued employee so obviously her 70th birthday would be made a big deal. "Wouldn't miss it for the world mother." Hudson said leading me down the short staircase to head to where he was parked. "You okay? You've been in your head all day." he asked as we got into the car. "I'm okay, just thinking about stuff that's it." He simply nodded, knowing that I'd talk to him whenever I was ready or in the mood to open up. "Hey, Abuelita sent us curtains, I'm going to need your help putting them up." I murmured as he pulled out of the driveway. "Damn, I'm meeting up with Carly tonight but I can cancel." "Nope, it's okay, we can do it another time." I mumbled, wave of disappointment hitting me. The rest of the ride was silent since Hudson gave up talking to me after I would only give him one word answers.
