ZARA: The morning came slowly, dragging light across the worn curtains of my room. I hadn't slept, not really. My head ached, so did my heart, my eyes burned, and everytime I shut them, I saw his face—Maximus. The way he looked at me like I was beneath him, the way his words hit harder than any physical blow, did the moon goddess decided to curse me. “You forget your place, omega.” Those words kept echoing in my mind, taunting, reminding me of every second of pain I had felt. Hollow, sharp, and impossible to forget. I sat on the edge of my bed, my blanket tangled around my legs, staring at my trembling hands. I shouldn't have talked to Matteo, should’ve run the moment I sighted him, But I didn’t. And now Maximus saw me, standing there like a fool and degraded me like I was nothing.
