Chapter 3: Aiden’s Warning

244 Words
Sienna’s first real encounter with the Stone triplets happened after a particularly awkward chemistry class. She had been assigned to sit next to Aiden, and the tension between them was palpable. Every time she glanced at him, she found him already looking her way, his expression unreadable. After class, as she hurried out the door, she felt a strong hand grab her arm. She turned to find Aiden towering over her, his grip firm but not painful. “We need to talk,” he said in a low voice that sent a chill down her spine. Sienna swallowed hard, unsure of what she had done to warrant his attention. “About what?” she asked, trying to sound braver than she felt. Aiden’s dark eyes flickered with something she couldn’t quite place—concern? Fear? Anger? “You need to stay away from us,” he said, his voice firm. “You don’t belong in our world.” Confused and a little hurt, Sienna yanked her arm free. “What are you talking about? I didn’t do anything to you.” Aiden’s jaw clenched. “Trust me, you don’t want to get involved with us. It’s better for everyone if you just…stay away.” Before she could respond, he turned and walked away, leaving her standing there, heart pounding and mind racing. She didn’t know what he meant, but she knew one thing for sure: staying away from them was going to be impossible.
